I'm thinking about moving to Pahrump.
How do you all like it there?

Except for the heat, lack of shopping, no movie theater, lack of better medical care, water table falling, incompetent Town Board, dirt roads, and some other various and sundry things it's a great place to live. Glad we came here.

Just kidding, I am not leaving.

Quite a few actually. I personally hate the drive. We need to go every month to my wife's doctors.

What about land prices. Are there people living of the grid? solar power? water haul?

One of my neighbors has been completely disconnected from VEA (electric). He has 4 or 5 wind machines, solar on the roof, uses a well, no water haul that I am aware of. Land is pretty cheap right now, check online. Homes also pretty cheap.

Some homes I can see on "the fan" I am told have no electric either. Most prefer hooking up, it will probably be over 100 degrees shortly so living without air is uncomfortable.

We finally got a good town manager and the many who want no change are trying to oust him, so remember we will always stay in the neanderthal times. I love it here!!!!!! Sunrises and sunsets are awesome and you can grow good gardens here!

Yep, we can even carry our guns still, no thanks to the "good" town manager.

You can say that again jjohn! Especially since we're getting a prison for neighbors. The sunrises won't be so awesome with a prison backdrop.

No it won't. I was there at the beginning trying to get it stopped, there were 2 or 4 of us then. A shame the rest weren't in it until too late.

We've been fighting the prison since the beginning too jjohn. I pleaded with the commissioners Not to drop the 9.5 mile buffer zone, but they wouldn't listen. I e-mailed them explaining in detail why a prison in the heart of Pahrump wasn't a good idea. Peter L. wrote me back asking me, "What's your point?" The sarcastic A_Hole! He never planned on sticking around anyways. I feel sorry for the poor people in Oregon. Waiting to hear what happens to him in court. It would be ironic if he ends up in this prison lol.

He won't, only those awaiting trial will be here. I went before the RPC about the 9.5 mile change. Bat Masterson ASSURED me that there would be no detention/prison built near any homes. He said they would need a special zoning. They got one. Bats an ex PEC salesman. They are the ones who sold all this then left without doing the roads etc.

So many LIES told to the people jjohn! Nothing is stopping them from building another prison here since they dropped the buffer zone. They've been busy beavers on this Prison Site!!! Up at sunrise moving dirt and off around 2:00 p.m. It looks like it's going to stand out really well for Pahrump. I wonder how long it will take before the Pro-Prison people move out?

The only thing that will stop it is if people get involved EARLY, not after the fact.

I'm a building official here in Idaho, in a town half the size of Pahrump. It looks like Pahrump hires out. Is that true?

I'm curious what your reasoning is for objecting to a prison. Wouldn't it mean jobs for Pahrump? Are you afraid of the prisoners? I really doubt that they would hide in Pahrump if they escaped. And I don't think that the view in Pahrump can get any uglier.
