Regionalization will put us at or near the top of the list for funding from the State. We will have a larger and more diverse teacher pool and more educational opportunities for the students. The tax burden on residents to build a new high school will be lower. It's a winner!

If there hasn't been a presentation to the town yet - how do you know this? How do you know where the regional high school will move to on the state list of funding requests? How can you say it will put us at or near the top - do you have a source for this information? Aren't there additional schools with 1,000 or more students also in need of funding?
I watched what happened to North Middlesex last year - school did not start when scheduled because two of the three towns did not pass their share of the school budget. That was a signal to me that the three towns may not see eye to eye on their educational goals. I also saw what happened in the Mascenic district with one of the towns withdrawing this year from the regional district.
No, I won't tell anyone it's a winner until all my questions are answered.

When and where is the Meeting in Lunenburg on August 12? Why didn't the article state this information?

Just me.
The chairlady of the committee leads me to believe we will be up there on the list. Shirley and Ayer are definitely joining forces. If we in Lunenburg choose to not team up, a new high school (which is being talked about) will most likely be funded solely by taxpayers as we will for sure be so far down on the list the State will never get around to helping us build it. Some people in town are just dead set against it (including a School Committee Member) regardless of what any study reveals. Show up at the meetings and I'm sure your questions will be answered to your satisfaction by those with firsthand knowledge. Yep! It'll be a win win for all involved.

I would love to show up at the meeting on August 12 if I just knew the time and venue.

LTandV:
I called the School Superintendent's office. Was told: Town Hall, Aug. 12, 7-9 p.m. They also said there were eight or so more meetings planned and that I would have to go to Town Hall and check the notices to see when and where. So, I guess we have to look for notices for meetings of The Planning Committee, The School Committee, and The Regionalization Planning Committee. Probably should call each committee when you see a notice and check to see if regionalization will be discussed. I suspect it will even if briefly. I cannot attend the meeting on Aug. 12th.
Clarence. And, still over here in Lunenburg.

There will also be a meeting on August 26, 7-9 p.m. at Page Hilltop School in in Ayer. It might be a good idea to attend this meeting also to find out what issues concern the residents of Ayer and Shirley.

No title? As in, they couldn't think of a bad name for this article. No talent is more like it.
