Car breaks ins in Colington

This is not a bash Colington thread, fyi. I live in Colington and this is the fourth morning that I have come outside to discover that several neighbors cars had been pilfered through and even some cars had items stolen (if there was anything of value in the cars.) What is wrong with people?! I never heard, did they ever catch the ones who were doing it the past few years? I wonder if it is the same person or people. It is so frustrating because we have small children and just want to have a safe community. Shame on the low lifes commiting these break ins!

Glad they put up that expensive gate. Seems ALL of the breakin's are from within the gate. White trash is as white trash does. They caught some little inbreds last yr, but their replacements are on the loose now.

I saw three sheriffs cars this morning on Colington road at about 10:00 this morning and know one was talking to someone at their home.

This is the first time they actually got inside MY car, i always lock them. However, one was unlocked and a few things were stolen. 18 cars in my hood. Lil bastards.

Happens every winter....one of the beach town neighborhoods is next. If you punks are reading this site and plan to come around KDH where you always do, I'm expecting you.

I heard it's illegal to booby-trap your own property against theft and vandalism. Sucks if true, but I would be willing to take my chances...

It's also illegal to have sex with most animals, other than simians because we are so close genetically. Sometimes you got to go with what you got.

Until Colington Harbour stops allowing people to rent out rooms this kind of thing will be more and more prevalent. I resent having to pay a homeowners fee for the "amenities" of Colington at the same rate as my neighbors who are making money with non-conforming rental apartments. They should have to pay separate fees for each rental unit in their home (to cover all of the wear and tear on the roads and the high tech security system.....what a joke). Colington Harbour is a great place to live if you like being surrounded by jerks.

All it takes is a call to the building inspector to see if the ground level apartment is legal. Give them the address, they will check it out.

I've already done this - numerous times. And nothing happens. EVER. Matter of fact, after the flood, the town sent around people to take the numbers of non-conforming apartments (it was very obvious). Again - no result. This is where something like the Harbour Association charging extra homeowner fees would be effective. Unless people feel it in their pocketbooks nothing ever changes.

At least "Fooey" seems to have some common sense and has made efforts to DO something about the problem rather than hiding behind an anonymous posting. Thanks Fooey for trying to help us here in Colington, keep fighting the good fight. Fooey for president!!

Guess what folks? It's perfectly legal to rent out one of your bedrooms or rather any other place in your house that somebody wouldn't mind sleeping in such as a large family room with a bed and wet bar. It only needs to be above base flood and not have a regular type of cooking stove in it. As long as the septic system will accommodate the bedroom it's perfectly legal and there's nothing the town nor the county can do about it.

Guess what, most of the time the extra "bedroom" is below the base flood level. Illegal bathroom, illegal stove, you name it.

You can have a bathroom below base flood

You can't have a separate area with another stove in it

You can't have a bedroom below base flood
