Sure doesnt seem like they have lost income if you drive by at any time of day the parking lot is packed.

I WILL NOT allow my children to go to that shop for candy/ice cream considering the quality of customers the shop attracts.

At one time I thought the shop was "Off Limits" for the high school students but guess that wasnt the case after Manning became Superintendent. Wonder what type of kick back she was getting.

It doesn't hurt my feeling at all that they lost their liquor license.
I used to stop in there once in awhile after work to get a 12 pack of beer and one them deliberately short changed me. I called him on it and he started laughing about it. I got what he owed me and never went back in there again.
Guess I got the last laugh.

The cops should sit & watch the number of "Beverages" that come out of that so-called store on a daily bases even now in a "Brown paper bag".
Personally I would have brought the drug dogs in that store also, because we all know they're selling more then just orange soda & chips from that place.

Do you live over there? I love that store and I've been buying my cheap booze in there for years. They are nice enough to put my booze in a brown bag for me at my own request. It's nobody's business what I drink or how I spend taxpayers money. If you don't live by that store or shop at that store then it doesn't concern you at all. This is an OUTRAGE! Worry about your own liquer store and leave mine alone.

This store is a blight on Cahokia. I have seen liquour and cig singles sold to minors. It's amazing that the former principal and superintendent Manning, who allegedly had the welfare of the students closest to her heart, never sought to close this denof sin. The owners have bloatantly sought to undermine the children of Cahokia by making place fore drugs to be sold available, as well as the booze and cigs. GOOD JOB, Mayor Cornwell, thechurches and the citizens are behind you. HOPEFULLY, THE STORE OWNERS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BUY off the corrupt officials so prevalent at the county level.

You use taxpayers money... does that mean your aid check? Get a job and use your own money...

Follow the law you idiot Mayor. Waiting three days to give written notice wouldn't have made the news, but beating down the door of an evil store owner who dares to sell booze within 100ft of school property might make it sound like you actually do something worthwhile on election day. Did you happen to drive around the road block on Range Lane to harass the store owner? The damaged street and obvious raw sewage smell has been there for going on three years. I wonder if there is an ordinance you are ignoring about raw sewage and schoolchildren....or traffic safety and blocked streets in front of a school. Do something worthwhile. If the liquor patrol or local police catch QuickieMart owner selling to minors, THEN take the license (legally of course). Save the "bust the door down" heroics for the people that don't live on one of the many Cahokia streets that are blocked off. When I can barbecue in my backyard and not smell raw sewage, i might consider thinking you're doing a good job. Until then, stop bullying business owners.

Blame your buddy Frank Bergman for those problems. The problems started when he was mayor & did nothing to fix them. He gave jobs & raises to his friends & family members and told us all we had no money. There's several thousand of dollars worth of sewer pipe that Frank did nothing with it. Want to see some of it, just drive down past Braun Funeral Home a couple of blocks, look to the left at Edwards & you see wasted money that should have been used to fix our sewers.
BUT, I guess it doesn't mean a hill of beans to you & others that about half of the 80 or so breaks we had in Cahokia have been fixed. Mayor Cornwell has 8yrs worth of screw ups from Frank Bergman to fix & people like you expect it to happen overnight. Oh wait that's right you could do a better job & have everything that Frank f**ked up in those 8yrs fixed in a week.
As far as Cornwell shutting that dump down, good ridden's. Just what we needed another place for the thugs to buy their booze & green bologna using their babies mamma's link card. That place has been a hole since the owner took it over and it has steadily gone down from.

I never did understand how they got a license in the first place since they were right across the street from the school. If only 20-30% of their sales is alchol what's their big complaint. I think the mayor is doing a good job & I hope he keeps up the good work. I'm glad I voted for him.

Mr.Bergman is not my 'buddy'. Every news article i've found about him paints him as a dirtbag. I can't believe you kept electing him. As for "shutting that dump down" well that didn't happen, did it? She only broke the law by taking his liquor license without 3 days written notice. I don't give a crap where "thugs" purchase their booze and bologna, but I do care about how business owners are treated (or mistreated) by the city. Frankly, the city should kiss the feet of anyone willing to run a business in this toilet of a town.
PS. Until I actually see the city fix the raw sewage problem in front of the highschool, I'll just yawn boredly that she's "protecting" little kids that might be tempted to illegally purchase booze from QuickieMart. Booze are bad for little kids...Ecoli apparently isn't.

I wonder why the mayor isnt doing anything about the school board member and her husband selling alcohol at that so-called banquet hall across the street from the school!!!! I know for a fact that they sell/distribute alcohol there and it's across the street from the school. A lot of fights have broken out at that place too !!! I didn't think it was legal for her as a school board member to have fund raisers there to profit especially under the districts name. Her husband also uses the school for his own personal gain by hAving basketball games and charging the students to play. They should be investigated too !!!!!

the place needs shut down...Food stamps are used to buy cigs and alcohol, WIC coupons are being misused as well instead of fruit juice they allow people to get kool-aid gallons. These infractions have been reported but nobody seems to care because its still going on everyday.

They may be sending people in use a Link card to buy those things. That's how they investigate. I agree the place should be closed.

Its sad youre still talking about mayor after mayor and not the worthless citizens who make a mayors job harder and harder ! The sewers were ruined years before Bergman and Cornwell and I remember Hucks selling beer way before any of these new owners came into town ! If we didnt have those businesses paying taxes we sure dont get any from the thousands who have moved ! Not to mention Banks robbed, Murders everywhere and tons of worse issues at hand ! So eventually the few good tax paying citizens will get fed up and move out then Cahokias in for a real treat and thats when you have no businesses open, worse crime than we already have and if the police decide to leave cuz theyre fed up with the shof they have to deal with all thatll be left is darkness cuz the powers goin out and your waters getting shut off ! Enjoy complaining on this topix forum that people spend more time on bitching than getting out and doin something good !

Just drove by and there was a young man that came out of the store and passed out cigarettes to other waiting.

And the Board Member and husband are having a Fish Fry at their business to "benefit" the Cahokia Club Track Team. Never heard of this group before.

maybe you should use your computer skills for something else then watching porn.

Yeah the school is crap & a lot of the students could care less what goes on. BUT there are those who do make a difference & do strive to excel in the sports and/or studies.
