Unions the down fall of our economy. The shame is that the Union would rather these people lose their jobs then take a reduction in pay or benefits. Go figure. Way to go.

how would anyone be able to own a company and have the union giving them orders? how can anyone effectively operate a company under those conditions?

Lizzie, you hit the nail on the head, it just cannot work that way, just ask Government Motors, I mean GM. Maybe Obama can put together another bailout for the motrocycle industry and prop up another company that has been taken to the cleaners by Unions he loves and bows to so much.

They could call it nickels for noise, buy a new H/D, get a bag of nickels from your freindly tax paying neighbors

Like I said many times the unions have been killing many good companies in the area for years.Good production workers have been loosing their jobs and the union just doesn't care they just want the dues.Old timers in the York area just look around and see what you lost in the last 40 years. That tells the story. Harley is next. Happy Days Wayne

I think its just time for companies to take a loss for a change big bussiness loses a couple percent of projected profit and they lay off.I'm tired of price increases to make someone person milions lose some for a change corporations are the problem with the economy and they just need to take a small loss for a change

Todd, step away from the Kool-aid, Unions do not regulate job conditions any more. Those are governed by OSHA and state safety agencies, Unions just regualate competition and protect the lazy worker, as long as they pay their monthly dues.

Unions did have a time and place in this country, but wake up, we are in the single digit years but it is 2009 not 1909.

Can you imagine the quality improvements GM and Ford could make if they were allowed to pay their labor for their skill set rather than a mandated Union scale

Unions are the only thing keeping us from reverting back 50+ years. And lest you forget there are fewer union workers at Ford & GM. Most of the bwork is done by robotics.

Lest you forget, both GM and Ford would have even more robotics and higher quality if the unions didn't control the plants.

Pablo, last I saw GM was broke and accepting my tax money for a bail out,

I am guessing the billions they lost meant they couldn't afford to pay someone $37.00 plus bennies for tightning a lug nut.
As earlier stated, Unions had a time and a place in this country, then organized crime took over and made it LEGAL to hijack and blackmail businesses

yes the union makes them pay someone $37.00 an hour which might be high for the area but look at all the ceo and vice-president and other positsions that they pay 6 figures and higherand all their bonuses. i work for a large corp. and they want the unions at their plants because it set the rules. you have a way to settle probelms. also it resricts power hunger supervisors. i'm sure you had a boss who would yell at you and belittle you then lie to his boss.

You have got to be kidding. I was a union member my whole life and know if it weren't for it I would have had to have two jobs to make ends meet. Furthermore, every time we negotiated a contract, management always cried poverty but after everything was signed and sealed they managed to give the higher ups a bigger percentage than us. Can you explain that? For the record, I don't think unions are all clean but you'd better believe all workers are better off because of them.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Virgo

Someone is easily angered today, and you'll want to tiptoe around them at every opportunity. They might be on the defensive and imagine that you're getting at them all the time, or they could be quick to point the finger of blame straight at you. It won't be an easy day, but try not to get swept up in the emotional dramas that are swirling around you. They'll only exhaust you.
