A company that is working correctly will continually be up grading it's operation to keep up. Not try to do it all at once, but like alot of big company's they tend to put much of their extra money towards CEO'S overpayments ( remember any waste of money going out of the company is not usefull to the company.
People trying to blame things on the union don't realize that if Company's don't spend on the union then they just increase their bonus and that doesn't help the company at all.

It is unfortunate that we, the taxpayers, must contribute our tax dollars to a single company just to try to keep them in York. Where were these tax dollars when all the other industries were leaving? If I were a Harley exec or shareholder, I'd be smiling all the way to the bank.

Have you ever been in a Harley Plant? Harley spends more money in upgrading and automating their manufacturing processes (at zero job loss per union contract) than almost any other company that I know of. Their manufacturing plants utilize the latest technologies and processes. Unfortunately, it is the union mentality that is not keeping up.

What does It take for that moron Rendell to finally
understand Harley doesn't want state money. They want major concessions from the township and the
bargaining unit i.e. the union.

One reason is Harley is considering leaving is that their plant would cost too much to update or make more productive, that they feel it might be more practical to build another plant somewhere else. One key thing is that another state would charge them less in taxes.

Alright Casper lets think about this. If Harley closes where are the workers, who have lost their jobs, going to turn for assistance? Social Services. How are social services paid for? Through taxes. Either way your taxes are going to increase. Although if Harley stays money from other regions will continue to flow into York county maintaining York's economic situation. Now if the plant leaves York's economic well being takes a hit. This means less money will be available to provide jobs in other sectors of the economy in York. I think most people would agree it is very important York works to keep Harley.
