Well I think that Chilton County needs to straighten their act up... Beacause right now my brother is in there and he has been in there since Oct. for a FTA and he is not scheduled to have court until March. That is 5 months that he has been sitting in there... And they said that he may not be released after the court date.. That is crap... His family needs him at home... Yeah he screwed up he made a mistake he forgot what ever his reason, He shouldn't have to be in there for no reason. I mean I have friends that work at the jail... And my husband is trying to get on as a correctons guard. There isn't anything wrong with them it is the system they are having to go through to get the inmates out... But I have been trying to fight to get my brother out for a while... And yes Rachel they do feed them there but they have to... If they don't they can go to jail for starving them to death... They are entitled to food too... but what I am trying to say is that Chilton County Jail has is good things and its bad... But they should watch how they are sentencing people because I know someone that got put in there for possession and got out in 3 weeks and my brother has been in there for 5 months for failure to appear... Chilton County needs to watch it because if that gets brought to attention of certain people that will look badly on them

I read this and it's really sad. The South is really so behind the times. I should know I was born and raised in the South and now I live in San Diego. First of all we are all human and their is a bad seed in every situation. Their are correction officers who should be fired because they mistreat the inmates and try to make them selves feel important by misusing their power. Their are also inmates who are gang banger, druggies and violent individuals who would like nothing better than to beat the hell out of a correction officer. But at the same time their are some correction officers and cops who are fair and treat people with respect; and their are some inmates who are good people that made a bad decision. We all make bad decisions; that don't make us terrible it makes us human. We just need to stop pointing fingers and grouping people together and just try to do what we can to make things better and get rid of the assholes by firing the bad cop and correction officers (talk to your city counsil and vote) and by punishing the people that do the crimes and continue to do it. You do the crime you do the time. But make sure you put people in office that will make the punishment fit the crime. Judge each person as a individual and not by category, race, or any other afiliation.

It's funny to me that the ones that are complaining about the jails are the ones that are always there. Stay out of trouble. Do the right thing. Straighten up your act. Jail is not supposed to be fun. And, Elizabeth, they are holding your brother because, HELLO, he didn't appear for court when he was released and trusted to do so the last time. Why are you blaming everyone except who is at fault.

The Chilton County jail and Sheriff's office have nothing to do with how long a person stays in jail. When a person is arrested they are there for the duration set by The State of Alabama and the courts determined by the crime they committed, not the Chilton County Sheriff's Office. If that person is in jail for an FTA that means he did not show up for court as promised to do when released the first time and made no effort to contact the courts to let them know the reoson for the absence. So now they have to sit in jail till the court date, which again is set by the courts and state. Yes, several of the ones in jail are good people who just made bad decisions but the majority are hardened criminals who might as well call the jail their home because they stay in so much. They have 24 hours a day to plot how they can get away with things, including testing weaknesses in the staff and system. The Corrections Officers have to be stern and show a great deal of authority in order to have the respect of an inmate population that outnumbers them 5 to 1. That often means having to fight and slam one every now and again. It is like that in every corrections institution in the world, not just here.

I don't think da popo was talking about himself, read the passage alittle better and you will get what he is saying! da popo didn't use commas to separate his thoughts :) I think if they get into trouble they should pay for their crime(s). Trust me, I have family and friends that have been to jail (in the chilton hilton for that fact) and at times I felt like they didn't get what they should have gotten. But I'm not a lawyer or judge and that's why we elect or hire certain officials to do these jobs. Maybe the system is not always fair, but that's life and thats why I make sure not to get into trouble. And that's just MY opinion. |

have you talked to your husbands lawyer? seems to me he/she should be getting this taken care of for you! |

1 dictionary definition of set- to cause to sit : place in or on a seat. Know what you are insulting someone with before you insult yourself. |
