Only an idiot believes banning a breed is going to stop the problem? The problem is NOT the breed, it's the thugs and lowlifes abusing animals purposely to make them mean!

Those ‘thinking’ of banning obviously missed the reports about Shepherds, Dobbie's, Rotti's, MIXED BREEDS, toy breeds that have attacked. Pits are NOT listed by the CDC as being the main problem and their numbers include Pit Bull MIXES. MOST thugs and backyard breeders do NOT know what a pure bred pit bull is! Their dogs, mostly responsible for attacks, are inbred mixes. The media is so ready to jump on ‘the pit bull’ story, they broadcast incorrect reports. The ball keeps rolling because of the stupidity and fear of what HUMANS have done to a breed. In most cases, when further studied, it's found the dog or dogs were NOT Pit Bull Terriers........they were mixed breeds.

The American Pit Bull Terrier was called the Nanny dog because they were loyal, non-aggressive, highly intelligent dogs. What has happened to the breed is that sub humans have taken them, inbred, abused, neglected, tortured and forced them to be mean. They inject them with steroids to induce high aggression levels.

WE can all thank the backwoods, street thugs and dog fighters for a lot of the bad press. They are the REAL problem...not the breed. When idiots stop whining and being afraid of a breed just because of its name and do some research, an intelligent discussion can happen. You cannot blame a dog breed for what sub humans force them to do. The law needs to be enforced against the gutless wonders, which are so WIMPY that they abuse a dog (pit and pit mixes) to be their status symbol.

Any dog can bite. Any dog can attack. To even consider banning a breed is idiotic. The abusers will simply move on to another large breed and do the same damage to them. These slugs of society do not care what happen to anyone, they are just torturing dogs to fight or attack. Those who abuse the pit mixes (or any dog) are not law abiding citizens! A breed should not suffer for the ignorance of humans.

The United Kennel Club recognized the Bull and Terrier Dog as the American Pit Bull Terrier in 1898.Staffs, AmStaffs, and APBTs produced by responsible breeders are bred for temperament. Many dogs of these breeds are therapy dogs; some do quite well in obedience, and one Bandog Dread HIC, VB, SchH 1, CD even has a herding title. Another, Solomon J. Grundy, is a service dog for quadriplegic owner Arvid Kuhnle of Saskatoon, Canada, and Bullitt, was shown on the 1985 Easter Seals poster with his owner, Gordy Ranberg of Genesee, Michigan..So what happened? The American Pit Bull Terrier and its AKC cousins had a well- deserved reputation as a loyal and trustworthy family pet in the early years of this century, but of late has been severely castigated as a vicious, man-killing beast, worthy of banishment from the cities, considered guilty with no chance of proving innocence in any case. "Pit bull" is a generic and derogatory term that encompasses any of several breeds of dogs or crosses on those breeds. Pit Bull fanciers can be divided into several camps: conscientious breeders of the AKC-registered duo who often deny kinship of their dogs with the ABPT; ethical breeders of the APBT who face squarely the slander heaped upon them by ignorant neighbors; and unethical breeders of all three breeds who still indulge in dog fighting or promote aggressive temperaments for illegal purposes.
Dog fighting rings still exist--it's only been a few years since a ring with national ties was busted in New Richmond and Blanchester, Ohio--and inner city drug dealers often use the dogs to guard their drug supplies and cash.To further complicate matters, those who still breed for fighting are not as careful to preserve the dog's strong instinct to bond with humans as the early breeders did. So, today "pit bull" is a pejorative term that strikes fear in the hearts of many and leads to the spreading of urban legends about dogs with locking jaws that exert 20 thousand pounds of pressure, unstable breed temperament, and overwhelming human aggression.
In fact, the well-bred American Pit Bull Terrier is a family guardian and protector; an intelligent and obedient pet; a sweet, even-tempered dog that serves well as a help-mate to handicapped owner and friend to small children; and a healthy, hardy dog that complains little and offers much to his family. Unfortunately, it has been more important for legislators in many jurisdictions to prove to constituents that they have "done something" about community problems. Spurred on by media accounts of "pit bull" attacks described in lurid detail, these councils and commissioners have banned pit bulls in all their forms from their communities. Never mind that the owners are the ones at fault for harboring a vicious dog; never mind that few of these dogs actually bite people; never mind that the breed and its crosses are not always easy to identify. Just ban them.
These dogs were therapy dogs for children for 13 yrs.. but now all of sudden its the dog... if get away with banning a dog for its breed, whats breed is next?? Your breed? Please do not LET them fool you. Please research this they are killing even puppies because of the breed.. sick..

Hey lets get rid of the people who complain about pit bulls, or rather get rid of people who bitch and gripe that the whole world doesn't bow to their every wish then life might be better for the people who just want to live in peace and quiet. Dogs are a lot like people if you teach them to be mean and cruel they will be, why does it take so much effort to understand this,

We have a Pit, he is a house dog, we have a house cat and 9 more cats and a dog outside, He has never one time snapped at or acted like he was going to bite... He plays with the cat which is by the way 2 months old, size dif don't ya think, Kids you ask? 3---7yr old, 5 yr old, and 1 yr old... Licks them to death...
So before you put a bad wrap on an awesome breed of dogs, re-evaluate the owners way of raising the dogs. Even a Chihuahua can bite hard enough to need stitches, if you make him mad enough at you, or invade HIS territory, and yes that includes the fence that is around him...Don't point, bark at, scream at or anything else, just walk on by and act like you didn't see the "MEAN OLD PIT BULL" inside his fenced in yard, or chained up area, it is his domain you are bothering the dogs..... what doesnt NKC ban?

This is like anything else in life, if you don't like pit bulls don't own one, you have a choice you all adults, you should know how to handle big boy and girl situtions like this, by now.I and my family have had several different breeds of dogs over the years, and have had no problems of any kind, and yes the list includes, rotoes,dobermans,hushies,chows and collies, and also the run of the mill mutts, no biting incidents and all were raised around kids. P.S They all were protectify(SP) of the kids.

My family and I have a pit, since his birth he's been around children. He is the biggest baby you would ever want to see. We took him to my mother n laws once and there was a tiny dog there and that tiny dog frightened my massive one, so you see it is all on how they are raised. If you approach him the only thing he'll do is roll over and want you to pet him. Everyone is just scared because of a couple of idiots that made their pits mean and the pits acted accordingly.

I'm happy to hear pit bulls are banned in my community. Quite frankly, I wish all "outside dogs" were banned. The occasional attack is an unfortunate occurrence; the incessant barking while I try to sleep or while enjoying company outside is so aggravating! Good riddance to all loud and/or aggressive dog breeds.

I own a dog and she is a PIT BULL, raised with my children! I am a responsible adult and dog owner, my dog is part of our family and to ban her and her heritage is just plain RACISIM! The fear that people have should be validated but to take away a family member because of fear is retarted. There are ways besides banning them that should be explored. We have been protected by a Pit Bull for a long time! I have trained her for several tradgic events should any happen. She knows 3 different languages for her commands and is as steady as a rock! The boys have a cart that she pulls around and shes more acurate than any gun! There is insurance you can buy in case something should go wrong, But i think all dog owners should carry it. I would hate to have any thing in this small but solid family taken because of FEAR & RACISIM! So with that said I will pray that there are options befor you ban!
