Teen Injured in Morning Crash

Yesterday morning around 8 a.m. my niece Corianne Carver ,daughter of Jill and Dennis Carver from Shady Spring, was in a serious accident on the WV Turnpike. During a terrible storm, a box truck clipped the front of her car spinning her out of control into the oncoming path of a semi. She was T-boned on the driver's side and the jaws-of-life were required to remove her from the car. This entire accident was witnessed by Jill who was driving in front of Cori. After calling 911, Jill immediately started calling for prayer even before the ambulances arrived to help Cori. Cori has a bleed in her brain, broken pelvis, bruised kidney and lungs, a tear in her spleen, but most life-threatening she had a tear in her aorta. She was transported from Raleigh to CAMC for emergency open-heart surgery. When she arrived in Charleston, she had become so stable that they were given the miraculous time to call in the best surgeon and his entire team. The doctors were stunned that she had survived these injuries. Cori's injured lung was pressed against the shredded aorta and she only required 2 pints of blood from the time of the wreck until around 3:30 in the afternoon when they started the surgery. After the surgery, the doctors informed our family that 85% of people with this type of injury never make it to the hospital alive. We are asking everyone to please pray for Cori and more miracles.

That sucks. Glad she's alive. She has my prayers.

We have known Cori for years & have watched her grow in our church. This is proof of the power of prayer. We continue to pray for her recovery & thank God for sparing her life.

Cori is a beautiful and talented young woman with a bright future. I will send up positive energy for her complete recovery.

I've been reading the updates that Jill posts daily and I must say I am amazed at the progress that Cori has made. I know I should not be, I am a christian and I know that with prayer and faith that anything is possible with God if we just trust in him. Please let the family know that we are still praying for them all, even though she is in a rehabilation center now she still has a long road ahead of her but she can do it. She has proven she is a fighter.
