pretty much anything between the Honey and the Rock and Beaver.

The Honey and the Rock 'Motel' is a cancer on its area. If you think about it, that isn't a bad location. That end of S. Fayette street isn't bad, nor is that end of S. Kanawha. The neighborhood on the hill across from the "Motel" is a pretty nice neighborhood as well.
I keep waiting on a meth lab to blow that place up, but haven't had any luck so far... |

That place needed to be level'd long ago, But I guess the crack & meth whores, and dealers would just move to the motel there in uptown beckley, or the Pagoda... Oh wait, to late they already have! People get online in other states, and see these places as being budget motels, & hotels. Then they arrive, and this is there first taste of West Virginia... Lovely huh? And the building there in between needs to go too!

What made Honey in the Rock go downhill so fast? I can remember 20 years ago, it was a decent place. I assume its changed hands and management a few times since? Did the newer places on Harper Rd, etc. just push the Honey in the Rock down into the gutter or what?

No ,the location pushed Honey In The Rock down.
People going to Grandveiw no longer go down Raleigh Hill,and that's why the motel was built there and named that in the first place. Now as far as leveling every thing between there and Beaver I will agree with you on the porn shops and bars but some of the businesses are good for the area. |

Raleigh needs to go to. There are a few nice houses there. But alot of them are horrible. I went thru there the other day and one house had a porch that was falling down. All they need to do is call the Building Authority and complain. (Im not really sure how you go about it or they do it) But they will find the last owner and tell them to either fix it or they tear it down and the owner gets a bill for the demolishing of it.

Oh yeah, if the owner dont pay the bill, the city of beckley keeps the property and I think they sell it. Ask and see.

true, I didnt think that the interstate wasnt there when H in the R was built. What else is there between Beaver and there besides bars and porn shops? |
