2 Perhaps that is indeed the case: you and I will never know for sure. However, I strongly suspect the true reason is they simply feel The Herald is a poor reflection on the Seymour community, and are frankly embarrassed by and for the "newspaper" in its current incarnation. |

3 It's amazing what tiny little minds can come up with. I must tell you, I worked for Joe on a couple of different occasions and I had and have some very negative feelings for him and his methods. But to all of you preaching the tired old saw of the "Herald's End Days", let me say this. I may not be a big Joe Karl fan, but at least he has ambition and a desire to actually do something. A quality missing from those who like to bitch about someone else's work efforts, yet provide absolutely nothing of use themselves. To all of you wishing Joe and his enterprise failure, please tell me what you have accomplished. What have you done other than watch, whine and complain? How much will you leave that anyone would care to even comment on? You bitchers are in every respect like eunuchs; they've heard all about doing it, know how it's done, have seen pictures, maybe even actual persons who can do it, but can't do it themselves. Yet feel they are qualified to tell those who can do it how it should be done. Then there's the ignorant-I wuz-a-born-heah-inbred-stupid- ass response that always, always labels anyone they don't like or that they disagree with as a Yankee. Well chumps, I ain't no Yankee, mountain born and bred, but ya'll are still fighting a losing battle and self perpetuate that stereotype of ignorant shoeless Hillbillies. Do something to change that. Try to learn some multi-syllable words. One more thing:. For people who view the Herald with disgust, you seem to have spent an awful lot of time, energy and effort poring over the thing. It's a lot like seeing something on TV that you don't like; just change the damn channel! If the Herald bothers you, don't pick it up. Do you dummies always lean into a punch? Maybe a large print coloring book would be a better choice. Short sentences, basic grammar and big pictures. Jerry Ison |

2 I'm not sure what you hoped to achieve by that little rant, but I feel quite confident you didn't enlighten anyone with your fiery yet misguided response. People in Seymour have every right to want the Herald gone. Herald papers are riddled with typos and errors - in the past month there have been two grammatical mistakes in the above-fold headline. That's embarrassing. I don't buy the Herald, but as a resident of Seymour I hate that such an unprofessional publication is associated with this area. And, for some reason, you seem to put a lot of stock in his "ambition." Well, is putting out a paper that's been proofread by an educated person really that ambitious? There are literally hundreds of grammatical mistakes on their website and in their papers... so maybe you should rethink your stance. They are the ones self-perpetuating the stereotype of ignorant shoeless hillbillies. If it were a decent, respectable newspaper it would be fine, but it's far from it. As for you, I could care less where you're from, but don't worry, after reading your post, I would have NEVER thought you were a yankee -you're redneck through and through. The Herald casts the entire area in a dim light, but if you prefer to stand in that shadow, I hear they're hiring again. |

1 Hmm, sporadic capitalization, poor grammar, and written on Sept. 4 when all the other pro-Herald/Joe Karl comments were written. I'm sure it's not Joe himself... Anyway, I flipped through this week's Herald (don't worry, flipped through doesn't mean bought), and I noticed it's been cut back to 12 pages from 16 - not a healthy sign for small, weekly newspapers. It was also even more packed with errors than usual, and I noticed there still isn't an editor or sports editor, or anyone with journalistic abilities in the masthead. I can't imagine that it can stay afloat like that. |

Hope the kids aren't catching hell at school because of this intellegent master-minded editor we are discussing! Not fair at all to the children!
