It will never happen. To hire someone from the outside, the Town Board would have to either fire someone or add a 4th officer to the police department. I don't think they have any plans to do that. Accepting applications was all a show. We're stuck with Richard as chief.

John said the same thing. Someone would have to leave.The budget won't support but three total. Old Mac can retire but he would much rather be fired....soooo do it.

If they go to 4th officer they also have to do away with the Marshal system and go to whats called Metro system where they are required to send all to the ILEA and a differnt pension plan etc. So I dont think they hire outside for that reason either UNLESS they pay the new Chief out a differnt fund etc.

I may be wrong but I dont think Richard is a ILEA Basic grad only a Marshal ILEA grad and he to old to qualify now. Mac is a ILEA Basic grad and Kelly is there now. Keelly dont have the required 5 years experenice to meet the Chief requirement, I not sure if that can be waived or not.

Not true on the Marshal system. It takes 5 officers to have to become a metropolitan dept.It would however be a good idea to send all officers to the full academy.

Well if that true then they be good to go. Other than the town not wanting to spend money for the 4th officer. Which I def think they need 24 hour coverage.
