And her life is over. What is wrong with these kids? 14 years old???? Where do they get these ideas? It is just so heartbreaking. Prayers for her family.

It might have something to do with the video games they play. I saw the one grand theft auto and it is nothing but violence. If they sit and play these games for hours they get de-sensitized to the violence and death. I think that at some point they start to loose track of what is real and what is not.

This is just such a horrible story. I have just seen previews of GTA and can't believe a company can be so irresponsible. And I can't believe parents would let their child have these violent video games.

I agree with that statement about kids losing their capability to differentiate between reality and not...it is called a form of schizophrenia.

"Social isolation commonly occurs and may be due to a number of factors. Impairment in social cognition is associated with schizophrenia, as are the active symptoms of paranoia from delusions and hallucinations, and the negative symptoms of apathy and avolition. Many people diagnosed with schizophrenia avoid potentially stressful social situations that may exacerbate mental distress.[8]

Late adolescence and early adulthood are peak years for the onset of schizophrenia."

The sad thing is, the 14 year old boy was interviewed by Fox Carolina News the day of the murder and he claimed to "have looked out for the neighborhood children and walk them home." He calmly spoke in front of the camera knowing he killed this young girl. The DNA evidence cannot be confused, it statistically proves this young black boy killed the girl.

Society must kill him and his family.

I agree on finding anything to blame but the scum that did it, and his upbringing. I hope they never ever let this piece of garbage out of prison. He will get to know what it feels like to be r aped!

This kid deserves the death penalty. Before anyone starts, a video game didnt make him do this, nor did society. The psychopath chose to do this. He deserves death. He doesnt deserve to be put in prison for years.

I know parents have to work to make ends meet, but dont be using that as an excuse, either. Tear their arses up when they need it and they wont act like this.

Its not quantity time, its QUALITY time!

Many wont agree with that statement, but in my opinion, its the truth.

When you throw children to the wolves (by poorly parenting them), they become like animals. Duh.

Since parents are not being held responsible for poor parenting, I believe all pubescent children need mandatory psychologial exams to see which ones needs intensive therapy before they commit violent crimes.

Most of these kids are identifiable.

Congratulations! You're a racist! Judging an entire race of people based on the Maury Povich show has secured your place amongst the dregs of humanity. You can continue down your hate-filled idiot path by judging all Jewish people based on Maury Povich.

So, go on! Enjoy your hateful idiocy and remember, don't EVER think that you aren't wrong because YOU know the truth because you watch Maury Povich. It's the anti-racists that are the REAL racists in your idiot world.

Death.
and the little pervert will never see 16!
Damn, but this is sad. An 8 year old baby had to endure the sexual assault and death from this 14 year old. She should have been playing tea party with her 8 year old friends.

That little SOB should never, ever see the light of day unless it's in Heaven.

Not to justify anything she received but. It was 10:30 at night.. Hmmm, the parents of the year candidates also now get shoulders to cry on. You cannot prevent everything but you can sure damn protect them from bad situations and 8 year olds don't need to be out much less awake at 10:30pm.

Dang, folks, Dunnin and Mtnbred are swinging the swords of Damocles. I hope I never do anything naughty. They'll demand I get hanged, drawn, and quartered.

First. the boy is entitled to the presumption of innocence and due process, although I understand they already got his DNA with the rape kit swab.

Second, I remember his mother interviewed the other night and she was complaining about her son being in the shadow of suspicion. She broke into tears, and then the 14-year-old sitting innocently on the couch said that he was the neighborhood escort for little children, that he walked along with them to protect them. He even had me convinced, and now if he's the killer, that's some audacity on his part to be posing as the neighborhood guardian angel.

Bullchit there peggy...... I am knocking on 50 - both my parents worked, shift work, as we grew up (4 daughters). They managed to make sure that one and/or both of them were present in our lives. I too work shift work and my ex and I were a heavy presence in our childrens' lives. Parents these days are as caught up in the "electronic, life in the fast lane, keeping up with the jones" as their children are! When we were raised, there were only 24 hours in the day, as is the case now. It is up to the parents to DECIDE THEIR PRIORITIES!!! Raise the kids, or raise the money to have what "everyone else does"!

I believe the same thing when it comes to video games. Back in the day when I was coming along, I never seen such s--t and hardly every heard of the violence that is abounding today involving teenagers. Just because I believe this though, Joe Blow from Cocomo will say I am full of s--t.
