NRC conducting special inspection at Oconee Nuclear Station

“The abnormally high vibrations seen on the three operating reactor coolant pumps during the plant cooldown have potential common causes that should be further investigated.”

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission is conducting a special inspection at the Oconee nuclear station to assess the circumstances associated with high vibrations experienced by three Unit 1 reactor coolant ... via GreenvilleOnline.com

Let me get this straight. Are you insinuating that a 4.8 earthquake 200 miles off shore from Vancouver island in the Pacific ocean affected the cooling pumps at the Oconee NPS in South Carolina some 3500 miles away?

So let me ask another obvious question. How does a 4.8 earthquake that occurred 3500 miles away AND 15 DAYS AFTER the pump vibration problem cause the problem. You see, if you actually bothered to read the article unit one was shutdown on April 12th and the earthquake of which you speak happened on April 27th. Inspection in the plant began on the 28th. Details ,details, details.
Oh and by the way, why didn't this earthquake affect any of the other nuclear plants that are within that 3500 mile radius, many of them such as in California and Arizona are much closer? I see you don't let reality get in the way of what you believe.

Especiily since the pumps are similar.

Guess you Don't Know Too Much about Geology then

when You speak of the Other Reactors. we didn't

Do We Need to Go back to mid April ?

or Japan before that

& recreate the pattern Seen around the Globe

this past week as we just asked a Question

that others are following up before something else happens cumulating in another possible 3 Mile Island or Chernobyl etc. as it'll be Too late then

Wow, you are absolutely off your rocker!!!!!
As a matter of fact I know a fair amount about geology and tectonic plates why earthquakes occur and the differences between types including which ones are more severe. What I also know quite abit about is mechanical equipment such as reactor coolant pumps. Just as with any other pump materials wear out wearing rings, bearings, etc. and they are replaced. Rx power plant coolant pumps can last 15 years or more and many have been replaced without any overt indication that they could not continue to do the job because it was required by plant operating specifications. I am sure they will identify the problem and fix the pumps (if necessary) and safely restart and operate the plant.
I gather that you choose not to answer my questions because your ouija board is confused as it can only respond in cosmic or geologic jibberish. Maybe the next power plant that has a reactor scram will be due to a massive coronal ejection that happens 14 days after the scram.
As I said before you can have any opinion you choose but lets try and keep the dialogue one of reality.
