We've lived in Wewoka for 4 years. We have 6 kids, a dog, and several businesses. I'd like to think the people in Wewoka are nicer than I've experienced personally from our neighbors, so I'd like to hear some positive comments about Wewoka. Honestly, I've been around the world, lived in big cities and was raised in a small town, and this is the most nasty unfriendly place I've ever experienced. I think it is the neighborhood. After we had about enough of the neighbors we locked the gate to the golf course... now that got their attention. Imagine driving through someone's yard whom you called the police on because you didn't like their kiddy pool, or didn't like the two pet hens their kids had gotten from their grandma as chicks, or calling the police & child welfare because a visiting kid drove a golf cart into a street sign. The same neighbor put four poles six feet into the ground about 20" from the side of the road and 18" out of the ground, filled them with cement, and camouflaged them green...to protect his sprinkler heads & this undamaged street sign. The sign is at the corner of Dove Tree & Boggy Lane...go see the poles on your Sunday after church drive and see some of Gods Love in Wewoka. Imagine if your mother cuts that corner, hits one of those poles, and puts her face into the windshield. Sad isn't it? Who cares about sprinkler heads over people? I just can't imagine people are this hateful, it's going to kill them to hold so much anger in their hearts. I want to hear good & positive things about Wewoka folks...obviously the ones we don't know yet. Please post some. I will start one, Nancy & John Lively have been wonderful neighbors, friendly, kind, true Christians... and we all miss John. I want to know that Wewoka is not all as hateful as what we've experienced... or is this why this town in the shape it is in? I've really never experienced such a hateful place, I could tell you story after story of these folks. Never will one even say a word to us, like we're going to sick our 4 year old on them or something. Also, most of them never have guests, no grand kids staying over, none of that, it's like the movie Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang and the town where they had to hide the children. It's the strangest place I've ever lived, like a bad dream, only filled with hateful old people driving Buick's & Cadillac's.

POINT PROVEN. You're smiling all the time, you're not arogent, stuck-up, and certainly not hateful...let alone prejudice or unwelcoming to your click. Tiger Pride, do you have a name or do you always hide behind a child's mascot? Do you go by Tiger, or Ms. Pride?

there are good and bad people in every town. i grew up here and yes the town has changed, as more renters now than homeowners. renters are not bad, but maybe not as responsible for upkeep as owners. it was an honor to know john, and nancy is a dear person. dont judge the whole town by a few not so nice neighbors

Mark,
Why would you even move to Wewoka in the first place? Your kids went to Holdenville schools, your businesses are in Holdenville, etc. Have you been RUN out of Holdenville and all these other wonderful places you've lived in? Your neighbors think you are a butt-hole anyway, because of the way you act. Wewoka is a GOOD place to live. You never gave it a real chance because you didn't participate in our community.

Mark (or dad): I agree that living here is stressful at times, but I would say Wewoka is totally horrible. I mean we live in a beautiful house, nice quiet neighborhood, and its safe for the most part. There's not a whole lot here, but isn't that to be expected when you live in such a small town?

Tiger Pride: I don't know what my grandfather has to do with us living in Wewoka, because he sure didn't buy our house for us or make us move here. Since when is owning a successful business classify you as an idiot? What exactly do you do with your life that makes it so great? By the way my mom has never said anything hateful to anyone in this town, she has six kids to look after do you expect her to be all smiley and happy 24/7? That sounds kinda stressful to me don't you think. I'm sorry you feel about us the way you do and I hope it wasn't anything we've personally done to you, but I'm sorry for whatever it was.

Nosetta: No we weren't run out of Holdenville. We found a nice neighborhood and a great house, so why wouldn't we move here? Our neighbors have never said hardly a word to us since we've moved here, so how can they call my father a "Butt-Hole" when they don't even know us?

I would like to apologize if I have offended anyone by not appearing happy all the time. We have alot on our plate also. I work 40 hours a week help work on 23 rental units and take care of six children and have been battling some health problems so its not that I am unhappy or hateful I am mostly tired. If I have ever had a conversation with anyone in Wewoka and been hateful I am also sorry. I have never been accused of being hateful maybe quiet and not a great conversationist but not hateful. I am trying to survive and make a happy life for my kids just like everyone else. So if you see me on the street or around town say Hey! Tiger pride I apologize for being such terrible neighbors and hope you can forgive and forget. In return I will smile more.

Trying to be a better person

So Holdenville Forum, how many people do you employ? I bet you have tried nothing and accomplished less. You can't even write a legible sentence. What carnival left you behind? Holdenville needs MORE VLS type businesses, they bring money from outside of the area, have good salaries & benefits, are not cyclical like oil field businesses, and turned a dump down town into something the city can be proud of.

Not only have you not hired a person in your entire life, I bet you've never invested a dime in making Holdenville a better place to live. In a down economy, the village Idiot aka Holdenville Forum, goes around bellowing nonsense. Whoo hoo for you!

As heard on the Paul Harvey show a while back, Wewoka Okla has a more crime per person ratio than Chicago Ill!! Wewoka is a sad, depressing place to drive thru. I have seen that town over the last 40 years slowly dissolve into what it is today. Everytime I am FORCED to have to go to Wewoka, some type of business has closed up. I used to love going there because my grandparents lived just on the outskirts of wewoka across the road from the old APCO gas station as you're going into town. The old station is still there, it's been remodeled, the three houses across the road are gone now the old dirt road now pasture. My grandparents old house was moved to Seminole and remodeled. R.I.P. Ben's Bar-B-Q......NO ONE... I MEAN NO ONE..not even his kin has come close to Ben Rothrock's barbeque! oh the white sauce!! truly an end of an era.

Wewoka is a joke. Thank GOD for the bypass! I heard an old lady that lived next to the Baptist preacher was hauled off to Kansas by a couple of queens who had a coffee shop. Stole her money, home, and minerals and left her to die. Is it true? Which Baptist church was it?
