School Systems spend time and money on these type of "Cultural Diversity" programs when Florida leads the nation in drop out rates and Florida students score horrible on National Skills Test! We need to stick to the 3Rs and leave the PC crap out of the Public Schools!!!

What is wrong with a little debate in our schools? What are we afraid of? High school students should be able to form their own opinions. Especially at Lake Brantly. As a society, Our country was founded on bringing people together in open disussion. Not keeping them out. With the state of world affairs, we need to be open to new ideas and encourage creative thinking in our youth. Safeguards should be in place to keep things from getting disruptive but freedom of speach is what we were founded on. Don't let the Nazi's take it away.
BTW. I am both Cristian and Republican. |

So separation of church and state doesn't apply to Islam? Only Christianity should be banned? |
|
|
"For example, he said, students often wonder why Islamic women wear head scarves, and that is among things that speakers from his group explain."
What was Kassamali's response to this? |

And you thought this would not occur,...why?
Of course this would occur. What were the schools thinking. Why would you invite a religion in to talk about their culture? Their culture IS religion. You could have invited a secular group from the Middle East to talk about Arabic Culture - instead - YOU BROUGHT IN A RELIGIOUS GROUP! Where. Is. The. Surprise? |
Chesty....we are not "insecure" we just want a level playing field with Islam. |

Smart Thinker:
Exactly, exactly exactly! I have middle eastern friends..and their culture outside of religion is what I would consider, quite ordinary! Just my opinion... Family oriented, great cuisine, warm people that are tight knit. Differences..absolutely..but nothing earth shattering. Religious topics are verboten, as they should be, and life goes on. Sanity and common sense break out, uncontrollably, when religion and politics are off the table. If the power-grabbers throughout the M.E. didn't use it as a tool, our troops would be on ships home in a week and Joe Average Arab would be rolling in OPEC cash...it'll never happen. |
|
I COULD NOT AGREE MORE...IF WE EVEN TALK ABOUT GOD WE ARE SLANE IN THE SCHOOLS, HOWEVER, WE ARE ALLOWED TO INVITE OTHER CULTURES AND RELIGONS INTO SCHOOLS.....GO FIGURE....THEY WILL PAY AT THE END OF THEIR TIME. LOVE IN CHRIST |

Dangerous business letting in any group to discuss culture or religion to our students. First off, they are not smart enough to handle it, and second, most of their parents are going to reject it out of hand due to their own ignorance. Most of the arguement like this banning action comes in from outside agitators brought about by some kid that "didn't get it", telling his parents, that "have never got it". It would be nice if our society could handle an open and frank discussion, but face it; we can't handle it. Hummm, Maybe thats why we continue to try and dominate the world, instead of promoting peace and tolerance.

Yeah right. It would be like the teacher requesting that a Jew come into the classroom and teach about the Passover, or a Christian about baptism or a Witch about a their religion of nature. If one religion should stay out of the classroom, all should. This is just a simple case of the Islamic community trying to ease itself into the minds of our youth. They need to learn their place.

When do the Buddhist, Atheists, Sikhs, Hindus, Jews, Rastas, Shintos, Taoists, Scientologists, and Wiccans get a shot at the title?
And you people say, "christians," like you're 1 big happy family, BAH HA hahahahahaha! Give! Which brand of christian should be allowed to give the next talk? Protestant? Catholic? Mormon? Eastern Orthodoxy? THIS is EXACTLY why there is a suppose to be a separation of church and state, ya bunch of hypocrites. Learn it. Live it. Love it. |

That is so cute. My 6 year old talks just like that too.

Please just stop your idiocy. Does anyone in your real life actually listen to you? Is this the only place you can vomit out this foolishness? |

All religions should be banned. Religion is good for nothing. More wars have been fought in the name of god than for any other reason. Chritianity is to this country what Islam is to the middle east. Both of them wanna push there beleifs on you, and both of them are just made up nonsense designed to control the weak.

Are our schools better off now since religion has been completely taken out of our schools?
