A door-to-door service so you can leave your car at home. And this could be a reality in some areas of Central Florida before Christmas 2008. Unfortunately your elected, have other ideas on where to put your tax dollars, down the drain for their special interests builders. AUDIT ELECTED OFFICIALS AND THEIR FAMILIES. LETS SEE WHERE THE TAXES GO. Some cities in Mexico have independent contractors that pick up passengers from bus stops in vans and drop them off at their destinations or close to their destinations. They charge a flat fee for the service.

That also happens in the Virgin Islands. Cabs were charging a $1.50 to get people to the bus stop, all you had to do was flag one down. These were mostly Maxi-Vans that hold 15 passengers.
The Bus-Hub could be expanded to allow cabs to provide commuter service for a reasonable fee.
LYNX should not reduce service, it should increase service with the Bus-Hub system. The shuttle buses cost Less than $115,000.00 and can carry 33 people. Just think, 20 shuttle buses from DeBary and Deland would get approximately 660 cars off of I-4. And when the Tolls are removed from the Toll Roads, there won't be a need for a Commuter Rail, just a better bus system.

Che wrote: Well, actually, this is a great idea, even though I do not use Lynx. And, any person who owns a car and drives on public roads should just pay it and not complain. What most people don't bother to learn (ignorance is bliss) is that the total gas tax does not pay for even 1/3 of road maintenance and construction. The rest comes from the general fund (sales tax in Florida). Therefore 2/3 of what road you all use is paid for by everyone. Not really fair that you are all complaining about subsidizing someone else with a mere penny, when people who have no cars (like myself) are willing to subsidize you WITHOUT COMPLAINT!! Do a little research and quit being so ignorant. Hey darling, You are not subsidizing just those of us with cars when you pay for roads; you are also benefitting. Do you ride the bus? I imagine you do. What do you think the buses ride on? Yes, that would be a road. You have water and power. The people who bring those services to you ride on the roads. The police and fire departments who protect you use the roads. Roads are called infrastructure. Infrastructure are necessary to society and we all benefit whether you own a car or not. I dare say, you probably walk on them at some point. No one is helping me with the cost of filling up my tank. I shouldn't be expected to help pay for someone else's transportation. Lynx needs to raise the cost of the fare to cover the actual cost. When I drive my car, I pay the actual cost. This is probably why I drive an old car that has seen better days. It is all I can afford.

By the way, I did see that you wrote you don't use Lynx, but you also wrote that you don't have a car. So, unless you know how to travel by fireplace like in the Harry Potter books......I imagine you do use the bus at some points. Or someone else is driving you (in which case, you ARE using the roads).

I do have one serious question for everybody:
If Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, Hamilton, Adams, Hancock and the rest of our founding fathers (oh, wait a minute, according to political correctness, you can't call them founding "fathers" anymore...LOL), came back today and saw what America has become, do you even think they would have bothered fighting the Redcoats? Or would they merely have gone to the nearest tavern for a pint of ale and called it a day?

Amen, Our leaders are worthless, taxes are out of control, we are granting benefits to people who arent even citizens, and the government is confiscated peoples wealth through enormous devaluations in our currency.
