The difference with a franchise like MsDonalds and the International Taekwondo Alliance is that ITA aells their frsnchise to people that will be working with small kids without even doind a bacground check. Its a money making farce. That is why ITa broke off drom another well know group- so they can keep the money for themselves. Is any leaders of the ITA black or womwn? NO. Are the students black and spme females? Yes. Save your money and go to real reputanle association- not a bunch of guys trying to get rich off kids.

McDonalds doesn't have their managers touching kids and they do background checks- you guys need to do background checks on the people that you sell your name to. Its irresponsible for you not to.

I was told by a parent who had a daughter that was in HTA for 5 years and spent about $18,000.00 for all their stuff that once you decide to leave, Greene treats you like dirt- well I found out that she was right! As long as you pump the money to them (extra classes, uniforms, tournaments, etc.) he is great- stop and you are persona non grata-jackass.

Bottom line, take your kid over to Burnside Karate on Lincoln Rd. Good teacher and real karate (shorin-ryu).
Disclosure: I do not study there nor do I study shorin-ryu, but isshin-ryu. I have met with the Sensei there before and am familiar with his peers and they speak highly of him. |

I have heard good things about Burnside- they don't advertise much- not in kid's pamphlets with the birthday pony rides but by word of mouth-the old fashion way.

Purple Dragon in Hattiesburg on S. 37th Ave. is excellent. The instructor really cares and her students learn karate as well as respect for self/parents, honor, and discipline. My daughter goes there and it is a very positive environment.

Burnside is also a good Karate studio. I agree w/scorchard the Sensei teaches a very traditional karate and I think is a third or fourth degree black belt. My son use to take karate there and it was a very good experience for him.
