County may ban some fireworks for Cinco de Mayo

Just cancel cinco de mayo completly....This is the United States of America....

Why are we celebrating a Mexican holiday in the first place? This is the united States of America if anyone didn't know.

Amen! Unfortunately too many believe that they are in Mexico. Any excuse to get a day off from work, wave Mexican flags and get drunk is just fine for the vast majority of "Americans" here.....

I can understand 1 Holiday for a Cultural Group, but they Actually celebrate 2 Holidays- this one AND Deis E Seis- Also a Mexican Holiday.You can include the Drunkfest called "Fiesta " too.
They Bam the Firworks because they start a lot of Brush fires due to low rainfall, but why don't they arrest the Idiots shooting Firearms in the Air during these celebrations? they are at the Least in city limits discharging a Firearm!
I agree- they need to return to Mexico to celebrate the only 2 victories Mexico ever had in it's LONG history of Losing.....

I am curious but yellow,is this an official El Paso County holiday?

The celebration of Cinco de Mayo is just another example of Mexicans grasping at straws--anything to be proud of.
The fact is this--the Mexican victory over the French at Puebla was a one-shot deal. The French returned, beat the boogey out of the Mexicans and occupied Mexico for three more years. The French finally signed an agreement and left Mexico DUE TO U.S. PRESSURE--NOT because of anything Mexicans did!
Mexico would be much better off of the French had remained in Mexico and made it a French colony--Today France is in the top 10 (according to the United Nations survey) of countries with a high standard of living. You're absolutely right. You can present facts that cannot be refuted, but there are those on this forum who will continue to argue without proof. Then they resort to personal insults and attacks. This type of behavior is especially indicative of Mexican people... and that is fact.

Who cares about the fireworks , as long as we can shoot our guns in the air, thats all I care about. And all you "Pry the gun off my dead fingers crowd" better support us on this during the big Cinco De Mayo celebrations. If you really are gun lovers. Otra Coors Otro Tiro.

Well yes, but El Paso is a "Sanctuary City". But no, they will never cancel/restrict anything for Cinco De Mayo, 16 Septiembre. Quatro De Julio, yes, no fireworks, no celebrations, no parades. Thats El Paso., U.S.A,

That is so true. El Paso doesn't like making a big deal out of American holidays, but when it comes to celebrating a mexican one they like to go all out, lol.

LOL why dont you move to a real city . Scared? We are a nation of Illegal Immirgrants we celebrate many holidays . I like it that way . How Long did it take for you to figure your in the United States or did you need a map to help figure that out. That's what kind of ignorance you also have. If this day means nothing to you then so what stay home. And don't worry who or why they celebrate this day. As for me I was born and raised here and so where my parents but, its part of my heritage and out respect for that I do celebrate it. And NO my work doesn't pay me for the day off and if this day should affect taxes then guess what mine go up to. So quit being so negative and celebrate groundhog day.
