This doesn't surprise me. With the overblown university costs, it is cheaper to go to a community college for a 2 year degree or do the first two years there and then transfer to a university. That way you can live off campus and just pay for the credit hours for class.

I saved almost $23,000 doing my first two years at Ivy Tech Community College. All but 3 credit hours transfer when I went to University if Maryland at $444.00 a credit hour. When I attended it was only $65.00 a credit hour. It allow me to get most bang for my buck and I didn’t have to go deep in debt to do it.

At least people are wising up, you NEED an education to even have a chance.

For those who say you can't get a good job even if you have a degree...what are your chances without one?

check their enrollment status after the first two weeks. See the numbers fall like wildflowers in autumn. It's more than initial enrollment...it's about retention.

I agree Ivy TEch along with the other univeristies are selling a dream. In the future without worker unity no one will be making any money. What is happening now is the indebting of the youth. This in turn will hinder them with debt the rest of their lifes. The average salary in Indiana is 12 dollars an hour. You may think I am crazy but in 6 years this country is going to be hurting very very bad. Many already are. I think it would be interesting to see how many students areusing student loans to pay rent food ect.

Ivy Tech is the roach motel of higher education -- "a lot go in but they don't come out."

I'm amazed how the press picks up on this story. Ivy Tech goes with this story based on the number of students who signed up for class. The actual number who actually show up to take the classes is as many as 1,000 less. The number who actually get out with a degree is maybe 20 percent of the total enrollment in a given year.

The Star should be paying closer attention to this racket. Hopefully, Snyder can clean up all the corruption of Lamkin.
