Route 66

Seligman, Arizona is a Route 66 town all the way. This delightful town retains all the flavor of the old road.

Don't know what they're talking about. For me it's a mass of wrecks looking like old cars and shop after shop offering the same chinese made things with a print "route66" on it.
If this is the 60's America I'm happy not having lived there and then.
I could imagine a good story around Seligman but not this shameful "would like to be"

Sorry, but never again I will visit Seligman.

Seligman is a town that seems to be playing on the so-called past glories of Route 66.

Some of the places, such as the Route 66 Historic Route 66 Motel and the Road Kill Cafe were nice, but about average as motels and restaurants go, but nothing special.

I think it's recent travelers who never traveled Route 66 in the pre-Interstate days who think there is something special about it.

Those of us who have traveled Route 66 and present day I-40 from year to year for some time have seen the imrovements in roads, motels and restaurants and have moved on.

Just a thought on Route 66. Caveat: Preface this with a big "IMHO". LOL.
I think the problem for Seligman was that the business dropped off when it was bypassed by I-40 and they had to come up with a way to attract tourists, so they invented the Route 66 mythology.
A lot of people seem to have bought into it, but in reality...At least from recent construction noted... Most tourists seem to prefer the newer Holiday Inn Express, La Quinta and the other chains of motels, restaurants, service stations, etc. to the old "classic" motels which admittedly do have a comparatively small following in relation to Interstate Highway locations.
I doubt the majority would like to go back to "the good old days" of Route 66 only. You do have a choice today but you didn't "way back then."
