Responsible pet owners who love their pets, don't allow them to roam free. Feral animals should be exterminated. She was doing the neighborhood a favor. While the torture and prolonged bad treatment of these critters is reprehensible, any critter roaming into someone elses pet free zone, especially mine, should meet an early demise. Many people have severe allergies to animals and if they choose not to incur health bills due to roaming pets, so be it. BAM!! If she abducted these pets, well, that's a different story and consequences.

So, if the smell from the back yard was so horrid, and the other houses are so close together and immaculate, I would imagine the neighbors HAD to have incurred this odor on a daily basis. Ummmm, did they report anything strange or ask authorities to at least check on the welfare of the place? Just curious about that one.

Santa Claus (I find it interesting you call yourself that when the image of "Santa" is portrayed as kind and benevolent): my animals do not roam free - and you best not be roaming on my property then. When an animal comes on my property, it is generally an isolated event and not malicious. When a human comes on my property, it is premeditated. You can go and join this sorry excuse for human flesh.

I will honestly say I did not read much of this article. It is way too upsetting. I will only say that just the few sentences I did read demands that this person has her children taken away from her. She should be banned from contact with all animals and all humans under the age of 18. My true hope is that she spends the rest of her unnatural life in prison. But our society hasn't quite gotten to the point of protecting animals they way they should be. These children need intense therapy to deprogram them from anything and everything this woman has taught them. This world needs to be erradicated of people like her.

If she abducted these pets, well, that's a different story and consequences. Sad to say I have to agree with you on this one, somewhat. There is a lot of difference between someone who's animal occasionally gets loose and those that believe their pets are the responsibility of the general public. Cats are the worst. So many cat owners feel they have the right to allow their animals to run free spreading disease and damaging property. I feel a person has the legitimate right to defend his property. As I've said before the biggest problem is cats. If a cat is running loose (not just temporarily escaped) then I consider it vermin in the same class as rats and mice and I will react accordingly. My suggestion is for people to take responsibility for their animals, if not someone else will. Now that being said what happened in this case is a totally different story. This was a heinous crime from the word go. I'm just curious at this point as to how much her children are going to burden society at some point in their lives. I believe they have been psychologically damaged. Sad, very sad.

People who are cruel to animals should be punished by receiving the same treatment they meted out.

What is wrong with calling animal control, or, heaven forbid - talking to the offending pet's owners about keeping their roaming pet contained? People who abuse animals often move on to abusing other vulnerable creatures - children and the elderly. This is sick on so many levels.

It makes me so sad that these poor creatures suffered and she will probably have no penalty- anything that matters anyways. Now her kids are probably going to grow up being just as messed up. I don't care if it is a wild, roaming animal- they DO NOT deserve to be TORTURED!!! There are ways to take care of animals problems and some of these comments disturb me. It feels like no one has any compassion these days and there is no penalties for when a crime is committed. I do however, believe in Karma or fate- whatever you wanna call it, and I hope she gets what she deserves someday... Sad, sad.
