Ive been a Verizon customer now for 5 years. 1 1/2 years ago I moved into an extended area for Verizon and ever since then Ive had nothing but problems. My biggest problem right now is that back in November I received a bill for over $1800 all which were for international calls. Every week, several times a week I have contacted Verizon. they insist that I made the call or one of my kids. Well, my kids have their own phones and my wife has one. The best Verizon would do for me is give me 25% off of the long distance charges. No! stop being so generous. Yesterday I spoke with a Lisa Williams an Verizon executive. At first she acted like she really care and she asked me if I made the calls and when I told her that I didnt she said "then dont pay it". Dont fall for this one. She listened a bit more and said to hold on so she could see what she could do for me. After about 10 minutes of being on hold all of the sudden a voice command was asking me for my billing zip code and phone number, this wonderfully useless lady just sent my call to customer service as all of them do. Oh, dont ever deal with their fraud department either. they will argue, insist that they are right and that there is no way they could be wrong. Anyway, back to Lisa Williams. When I tried to call her back all calls went to her voice mail.HHHMMM.... go figure. I have paid some of the bill but now they have shut my service off and state that they want payment in full, which is down to $843 But the kicer to this now is that they also say that I owe $278 for my current bill which I have yet to receive and my bill for monthly service for the past 5 years is and has been $180. This is the WORST company I have ever had to deal with. They lie, they cheat their customers, and have no desire to help their customers. Not sure on what to do. Ive hired an attorney and she gets the run around, I get the run around and Im stuck with a huge bill, over a $1000 in cell phones that I cant use. Another thing, back in September, I purchased the new Env by LG. I had problems with my other Lg so I figured I just get a new phone to get me tho]rough to April when my contract ran out. WRONG AGAIN. Thesales personsaid my contractwouldnt change since it has not ended. More BS from Verizon. I've been locked into another 2yr contract that now expires in Sept. 09. I highly suggest to anyone, and everyone not to become a Verizon customer.
Most likely when you moved to the "extended area" you are no longer dealing with verizon, you're dealing with another company that contracts with verizon for the use of their towers and equipment. Still verizon's duty to fix the issue but that is most likely the core of the problem. Contracts "always" change when you get a new phone, it's how they fund the service and make the phones affordable. Companies like metropcs do not do this and tmobile gives you the choice to pay full price, one year extension or two year extension...the longer you extend the cheaper the price so again...research is the key. A salesman will often tell you anything to get credit for the sale, sometimes they are lying and sometimes they just don't know the right answer and aren't motivated to ask. Nuff said.
