Going Clean: Area power plant will stop burning oil

Florida Power & Light Co. announced today that it will expand and convert two of its power plants from oil to cleaner-burning natural gas.

FPL understands, as we all should, that oil prices will remain in the 100 dpb range. Natural gas then becomes less expensive to use, as a plus natural gas is a domestic product and much cleaner than oil. Very good news here!

A good supply source would be a pipe line from the State Legislature directly to the plant. Those buffoons are so full of methane you could run the plant day and night non-stop.

Good 'ole Florida Flicker & Flash. Natural gas is a much better choice for homeowners and businesses to use on-site that it is for utilities to use as fuel to boil water to make electricity which loses its efficiency as it is transmitted and distributed to homes and businesses to heat water. Wake up! Natural gas as a fossil fuel for electrical generation is NOT an efficient use. Much better to build nuclear plants for electrical generation and save natural gas for on-site end users as a heat source. Don't accept at face value the propaganda of the electrical utilities.

They are being forced to convert due to toxic emissions. FP&L ranks as the 15th top polluter in the Nation for air emissions. If it was not mandated that they convert, they would not.

I'm with you on nuclear but while we both wait for Washington to clear the way, natural gas has merit.
