Freedom is not free

The first lesson of economics is scarcity: There is never enough of anything to satisfy all those who want it. The first lesson of politics is to disregard the first lesson of economics."

Those businesses helped by the SBDC should pony up a consulting fee and put a value on the assistance they have been getting from confiscated funding. A dollar here a dollar there, pretty soon taxpayers will get to keep a few billion more of what they earn.

So sorry to hear the funding is begin cut for such a successful venture. It has been a very successful endeavor for so many and it is short sided to have cut funding through the university, for it is where so many students could have been successful in their business ventures. Pity.

Toast the SBA

For anyone who has ever dealt with the SBA, this is not much of a loss. Has anyone ever examined their success rate? Anyone who owns or has started a small business knows that government and regulation is your biggest problem. They operate like every government agency, lots of talk, but little action and they move very very very slowly.

I know of some business owners who were not provided with any assistance that they sought from this FAU program. They were not even provided the chance to meet or speak with these counselors. This article is very one-sided.

Just to clear up a few things:
The SBDC is NOT the SBA
SBDC's are not allowed to charge for counseling
The process is not long. The only people I ever heard complain about the SBA were people with bad credit and no collateral and hence turned down.
Its also a bit cheap to say you HEARD someone was refused service by FAU. How about some facts. It looks like the helped a lot of people if you read the article.
