Hmm ...$750 +$70 to truck a car down from NY, or back up there? The gas to drive yourself would run around $200+/- for the trip, less the air fare and now attorneys fees. But its so much more convenient to have complete strangers do it for you I guess.
Hurry, we need to get to Carrabba's before 5! |

Sounds like they've picked up some of the finer points of running a business from South Florida movers.
I know if I signed a contract to drive someone's 50K automobile to New York and didn't show up at the alloted time, I would be criminally charged with grand theft auto. I guess you just need to put LLC. after your name to make it alright to screw people. |

i can understand what the customers are saying & how they feel--but your article is not fare to us auto brokers who do ship vehicles on a timely fashion & care about our customers--there will always be 1 company who may not perform accordingly.--everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it really hurts those of us working hard & being honest to have Joel metter'S opinion portrayed the way you did. we are a necessary ingredient to auto shipping-keep in mind that AUTO SHIPPERS DO USE TRUCKS OTHER THAN THERE OWN to move vehicles & BROKERS DO KNOW WHO HAS THE VEHICLE. WE ALSO MAKE SURE WE HAVE THE TRUCKERS INS. CERTIFICATE-LICENSE & DOT PAPERS--PLEASE DO NOT CRUCIFY ALL OF US FOR 1 APPLE THAT HAS BRUISES.--IT HAPPENS IN ALL TRADES OF LIFE--THANKS FOR LETTING ME VENT--RAYE @ RAYES AUTO CONNECTION

Here are your misspelled words:
You wrote "fare" instead of "fair". You wrote "there" instead of "their." |

I'd prefer a broker over one single moving company. Moving Brokers will fight for the customer and has alot more leverage then dealing with one moving company. They can also give better rates due to the massive amounts of business they refer to independent carriers.

Are you sure this is a broker I think this might be a Carrier Please double check Because this sometimes happens when you use a carrier direct.

Same for impotent laws regarding other types of fraud. Meanwhile, we're paying fortunes to lock up drug addicts for life. But it is funny when the law -- which exists in this country basically to protect privilege -- burns some high-rollers.

That's a damn good thing. It's hard enough to convince people who know just me not to kill me. If there were more of me, crime and road rage would be much higher.

It is unfortunate what happen to Michael Bollelle and to see where Diane reports the “State attorney general gets 48 complaints about transporters”. I assume these are auto transport carriers complaints and includes the auto transport brokers.
Bollella comment,“I've been doing this for years, but it's the first time I had a problem”, clearly states this is not the rule rather is more of an isolated incident and worthy of informing consumers be ware. In severing in the automotive transportation industry for 29 years I must says I have seen this situation occur many a times however compared to the successful shipments the failed one are low. Moreover, a failed situation can happen with either a carrier or broker. Automotive transportation runs on irregular routes and schedules for both individuals and businesses, much different from that of a parcel post service. As to the comment “specify a fixed delivery date, rather than time estimates, in the contract” is unrealistic when shipping less than a load of vehicles. Flexibility is necessary, most carriers and brokers provide reasonable date ranges. Car haulers would prefer to book their business direct with the consumers and some do however, most are way too busy to negotiates deals and rely heavily on the assistance of brokers. Both have their place and their more good ones than bad ones. |

Why is Florida so screwed up ?
If you pay somebody to do something and they don't do it , let's arrest them . It's not difficult. |

Ever hear of Auto Driveaway companies?

The problem with this is, that people being cheap about purchasing another car to stay at their vacation or 2nd home. if a person does business with a legitmate carrier, a customer would be paying more than through a broker.

Part of the problem is, as a driver it is easy to become an independent shipper. Which means you can find a lot of flaky short lived shippers out there.
A good broker however will keep their own blacklist of shippers they will not book. Out of the last few vehicles my husband has had shipped. One the driver just quit, parked his truck and told no one. Another, the driver managed to slash the tire and then tried to explain all the tire needed was air. And yet another, the guy drove under a tree or something and damn near sheared the roof off of the vehicle. Luckily with a broker these bafoons weren't paid and their insurance charged accordingly. |
That's the operative,'half' a brain. One half for up north, one for Florida. |

It's not difficult in theory. Have you ever tried it? I have, and its taken nearly 2 years of jumping up and down and screaming to dozens of agencies to finally get someone to listen. So we pay these people in these agencies to arrest people and they dont arrest them...let's arrest THEM yah? |
