"ALIEN rape suspect"?? Would you have identified this man as a "black" rape suspect? I thought we had long ago gotten past implying that a whole group was criminal because of the actions of one member. The use of that word in the headline tells us nothing of importance about the crime, but helps to legitimize fear and hatred for a huge and diverse group of people who had nothing to do with this incident.

I thought the headline was a joke - perhaps "The Onion" had slipped one by. Your "alien" rape suspect? I suspect that some idiot wrote that headline. Imagine how the thousands of young "alien" people who work on MDI and all over the state of Maine must feel when they hear this description. These people live here, cook our lobsters, make our beds, clean our toilets, cut our grass and play nice with the tourists who come and keep our fragile economy alive. Shame on you for your sensational and cruel use of "alien".

I live here.
I cut my own grass.
I cook my own lobster, which is a rare treat these days.
I make my own bed.
I clean my own toilet.
Get your panties untwisted dear.

Would you have preferred that he was referred to as "Illegal Alien?" Why do the "liberals" of America feel the need to tiptoe around others in fear of hurting their feelings. I say if your offended, tough, put your big boy, or big girl pants on and get over it. What ever happened to the freedom of speech? Just another "Right" we are being stripped of.
Those "Jobs" spoken in an earlier post "Used" to go to the high school kids or just graduated and early years of college. But "WE American's" all want to start at the top of the heap and run offices and businesses, never having started at the bottom of anything. The day is going to come when the "younger generation" will feel the sting of a big slap in the face, when the wake up call comes to them. When the get the rude realization that the sun doesn't rise and set JUST for them, as their over protective parents have led them to believe. Nothing but a bunch of spoiled rotten gimmie gimmie people we are raising in this country.

Why don't you just say " Rape Suspect" it does not matter what color he is and what country he is from, a rape suspect is a rape suspect. No matter what the charge is, rape, robbery, OUI, OAS. Law Enforcement has to investigate any and all complaints, that is why they get paid for the job they do. In the end, either one was raped or one was not. Don't slam the woman and don't slam the man. Let law enforcement do their job. If you are not aware of how Law Enforcement works, call your local agency and ask. It sounds like people are afrid of the word rape and then again, they sound like they are afraid to generize someone's nationality because of race, color etc. A job needs to be done here and everyone is going off the map by not knowing what they are talking about. It's sad.

I agree with saddened. This is not a matter of which words offend and which words are acceptable to the public. It's disgusting that we care more about not offending people than we do about protecting people.

If you live in Camden, you probably employ several of them, but if referring to this suspect as an "alien" offends you, how about Piece of sh#t. That sound better?:-)
