We all lost our view of the beautiful beach. Are they going to lower the dunes?

I just got back from a week in North Wildwood. From what I was told the reason they are performing the beach replenishment is to protect the dunes.

The environmentalists have succeeded in perpetuating a great fraud. They have managed to spread disinformation that dunes are the best way to protect the beach and seawalls hurt. Seawalls, not sand dunes, are the best protection from beach erosion and flooding. Environmentalists prefer dunes because dunes devalue oceanfront property (obstructed views) and leave oceanfront property vulnerable to destruction. Their aim is not to save the beach for people. Their aim is to save the beach from people and preserve it for birds and turtles.

Environmentalists had absolutely nothing to do with the dune that is obstructing your view. it was not enviromentalist who payed for it to be there .You are misinformed and spreading the disinformation.dunes do not devalue the property .beach renourishment is just that beach RENOURISHMENT and it works thats why every state on the coast of the united states has it done.please educate yourself before spreading any more of your opinions.

We spend so much tax money on this. you cannot fight mother nature. If she wants the beach, she'll take it like Cape Henlopen.

BTW - I prefer the dunes to seawalls. Much more picturesque. I love the dunes in front of our home. Makes me feel like where on the beach instead of in a parking lot with curbs and berms everywhere.

You are absolutely correct, the seawall is a nice addition for the walkers, runners, and those who just enjoy a stroll by the ocean(myself included although i really prefer to walk the beach) but it actually does more to promote erosion than stop it. Many beaches rely heavily on the runoff from the land that borders to sustain them, and by blocking this natural occurance with structures such as houses, roadways, seawalls/bulkheads we inhibitthis natural process. It is understandable that you want to protect your property from damages by mother nature but lets face it, we have caused our own problems in many cases and could soon be without some of the the precious natural resources that we love so much.
