allen county , why do we not have a burn ban ? i dont get it . other counties protect or try to protect the people and their farms and woodlands from fire, whats up with this? its up to the judge executive to make that call ?? the grass is so dry here in allen county a cig thrown from a car will start a field fire !! what is up !! i will be sitting on my porch with a water hose this weekend because there is no burn ban .. there are so many here that have no common sense and will have bon fires , fire works going all around us .. be careful this holiday week ,keep the water hose close. i did not know it was the judge exec that made the decision on the fire ban .. here are the links that some people with common sense might need or be interested in. Counties included in the Level 1 drought declaration:

–Barren River DMA: Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, Warren
–Big Sandy DMA: Magoffin
–Bluegrass DMA: Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Estill, Fayette, Garrard, Harrison, Jessamine, Lincoln, Madison, Mercer, Nicholas, Powell, Scott, Woodford

In addition to forest fire hazard seasons and outdoor burning regulations enforced by the Kentucky Division of Forestry (KDF), the Kentucky Division for Air Quality and the Kentucky Division of Waste Management, further restrictions may be initiated at the local level through county burn bans and local ordinances. County burn bans are issued by the county judge/executive and are enforced http://forestry.ky.gov/wildlandfiremanagement...

We DO need a burn ban. But a burn ban isn't going to stop an idiot from throwing a cigarette out of a car window. That's littering and illegal but it still doesn't stop people.

Well I will be shooting fireworks this weekend but I will be taking proper precautions....lots and lots of watering down my lawn as well as my neighbors lawns as well as all property nearby, talked to my neighbors and they are fine with it, so just because you see fireworks this weekend doesn't mean people aren't taking the steps they need to take in order to prevent a disaster...I just hope everyone takes the proper steps as well as have a good plan in place in case something does go wrong! It really sucks to have gone out and spent lots of $ on fireworks and then not be able to shoot them off so we have made a plan, a backup plan and a backup backup plan and are going to do things as safe as possible and I know several other families who are doing the same thing.

Sounds like you have a good plan. Hope everyone does, the house down the road from me won't even mow their grass ( it is waist high) the kids get lost in it.

I really hope all of Allen County will be extra safe this 4th.

Oh, quit being such a wuss. Copy and paste sucks too. All some people do is complain about something. I bet we get some rain when God decides to send it. That's the problem now and a hole is in the ozone layer, folks skimping by on their tithes. Folks trying to skimp by on 1-2% and some folks -0-. You can't cheat the Lord ah. You open your pocket books at Christmas and June Bugs fly out. That's not a good sign. Amen.

There's a hole in the Ozone Layer and we're experiencing dry weather because we don't pay money to a church? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
