The taxpayers pay for the gas and insurance on those vehicles, so is it fair that they have their families in the car and use them for grocery store, school drop-off etc.??? What happens if that police officer is hit while their family is in the car?? I believe that these vehicles should be used for POLICE business only!!! If we were in NYC or somewhere where the cops actually had to "work" then I may understand that. but these po-dunks have no REAL crime going on here....please!!

I am just curious, but why is it always something negative about the police? Did you ever think before you typed that maybe these officers put their own gas money in their cars, that the take home care could be part of their job package as being an officer, or that it isn't any of your business to begin with? I mean, we have drugs, theft, domestic violence, unemployment at it's highest & problems all around us, but you choose to bash our local law enforcement over driving their personal police cars in our local town? I am confused as to why you even posted something so juvenile, when our world is in a lot worse situations as an officer driving his car with family or friends in it. Those men serve our community every week more than anyone knows other than them or their family. Maybe instead of complaining you could do something productive & positive! After all, you DO NOT PAY THEIR GAS, CARS, OR ANYTHING ELSE! IF you need something to complain about, try bashing the welfare system who is using your tax money to feed their multiple children & doping adults in their welfare homes. It's that simple! By the way, could this be a Terry Amick supporter? Just curious, since it's juvenile!

I agree. Our tax dollars should never be used to buy gasoline for police cruisers or pay for their maintenance if the cars are going to be used for PERSONAL USAGE.... It should not be allowed at all. Once you are off shift you return the car to the lot immediately. and no using the car for any personal usage when ON shift either.

I say its part of their pay. They serve our community when in the car. My mother had a flat tire and a OFF duty officer stopped and helped her. She thanked him several times but he assured her that its part of his job bacause when in his car he HAS to stop and help. Still think it was nice of the officer

Why dont you people move...You are always complaining about the police around here. Why dont you try complaining about somethin that actually matters. This is why the cops in this town have such bad attitudes.Believe it or not everytime they put on their uniform they take a chance on being killed in the next 8 hrs makin sure your house of shit you probably stole dont get broken into and you wanna complain about 1 of them driving their kids to school in their car.Are you serious.whats wrong did 1 of them turn you down or take you to jail for dope instead of lookin the other way like YOU thought they should. And 1 other fact you may want to think about b 4 YOU speak...the jail has been over crowded for months now so obviously someone IS doing their job stupid...I hope next time you have a problem you dont dial 911 cause its people like you that want to bitch about something this pointless that shouldnt be allowed to use this service.Stupid get a job.

The police are doing there jobs and have been for years and the jail has been overcrowed for years. Marsha has clamped down and gotten tough on criminals and not letting criminals go free which is causing more overcrowding. In the last seven months she has done a good job but because of overcrowding we are again talking about a new jail which is going to cost millions of dollars which the taxpayers will have to pay. The public is going to have to make up their minds and let the politicians know if we are going to allow this. I t looks like the criminals are winning. They break into our homes, steal from us and sell drugs on the streets and then the county council will have to raise our taxes so we can keep them locked up until they can get out and start over again. It may be cheaper to keep moving the inmates to other counties rather then keep them in our jail. A lot of hard decisions ahead. I would hate to be on the county council right now.

Im not real sure how this went from police officers drivin their cars off duty to Marsha but either way I think when a police officer is willing to get up and put a uniform on and risk their life to possably save yours it should be ok if they drop their child off at school.Im a taxpayer as well and it doesn't bother me at all to see this because I know its those same officers that are going to be there if I need them.So "Think b4 you speak" next time someone steals from you,or breaks in your house or hits you on the head with somethin to take your purse or wallet or does any of these things to someone you know or love do yourself a favor and dont bother these po-dunks with your crap because its not "REAL CRIME" right. And the same goes for you too "Stop it"

One of my neighbors drives his police car to his job as assistant superintendent of schools for Clark County. If this kind of double dipping into public funds is not illegal, it should be.

Lombard, Illinois, police officer used a police vehicle to get Rory McIlroy to the Ryder Cup because McIlroy couldn't get his butt out of bed. Speeding recklessly, changing traffic lights on public roads is not only dangerous but should be illegal. I guess the next time I'm late to something, I know who to call - the Lombard cops.

Uh those off duty officers in their cars are working and happen to make arrests, write tickets, and help out broken down vehicles. I'm sure when you're sitting on the interstate broken down and one stops to help you, you'll just bitch at them for driving their police cars off duty instead of letting them help you.

BECAUSE this post got started over officers helping citizens....no! They use their cruisers(mainly) to do everything that they can in them without getting into logging and extended mileage. Trips to Clarksville....Seymour......re atuarants....theatres......rid iculous. As ling as its nothing too scarce. It's not a free ride. Enjoy it while you can tho bc it's not unnoticed.
