U.S. and World News - Gay Students Allowed To Attend Prom

I would like to thank everyone for their support, I am Lauren's mother. I didn't choose this lifestyle for my child, this is a choice she must make...but I am her mother and it is my job to love, support, and defend her. Wouldn't any parent do the same?

Thanks Anita...there are few that support me on this topic. I wonder what they would do if there were in my situation....

You know what Connie, you are right. You said, I wonder what they would do if they were in my situation".....To be honest with you I am against a homosexual lifestyle, however I don't believe that people should be treated any differently because of their sexual preference. I do support you on that, all people should be treated with respect and dignity. And if that was my child, I would be disappointed (about the choice he made) but I would support him always, regardless.

I have always avoided any dealings with anything that has to do with homosexuality, never have opposed it, or even commented about it in a thread. But when you said(coming from a mothers view point)<I wonder what they would do if they were in my position> that's what made me respond.....

Excuse me,I have never been around that lifestyle so I have never felt a need to be associated with it, I avoid ARGUING or OPPOSING or FIGHTING about it. Work on your reading comprehension before you make a stupid remark like that.

they made their choice! should have stayed in the closet! so they should not be free!!

To all: Please, I beg of you, know this: WE DID NOT "CHOOSE" TO BE GAY! No one would choose this life. There is way too many obstacles and hatred out there to choose this lifestyle. I am a Christian, I was born again in 1995, baptised as an adult. God made me and God doesn't make mistakes. I fully understand that there are people out there that have never had any contact with the gay community. But beleive me, you would probably never know it if you did. I can only speak for myself. My partner and I are well educated individuals and we both have solid careers. We are financially well off with no worries. What's really amusing is when I see all the negative posts about homosexuality and how much they condemn us and want us gone, and then I think, it's these same people that are supporting my paycheck every month and they don't even know it. If any of them purchase Coke or Pepsi branded products, no matter if it's from a Publix, Winn-Dixie, Wal-Mart, gas stations, fast food restaurants, from Key West to North Carolina, from Jacksonville to Dallas, they suppost me and my partners paycheck. So, I really should send out a big Thank You to all of you homophobic people that hate us so much!
