Thank you for the return post. I am in love with Scotland. Researching my family tree is where I found out my heritage and that my ancestors were from Scotland. Also I learned about wars and history from books I read. Are you living in Scotland now or are you in London? |

Just got in from work and was glad to see that you answered my post. It is around 9:00 am here, I work nights and sleep most of the day. I am off work today and through the weekend so I hope not to sleep all day. Fall is coming here to the mountains and I get very excited about the change of season. Does Scotland have 4 seasons like here. I mean with falling leaves and changing colors?

Weather aside, Scotland is great. A 30 minute drive will take you from the cities to the hills where you can be the only person for miles around.
At every turn there are centuries of history with castles, cathdrals and the industrial past all crammed together. The folk music is the most melodic on the planet which comes in part from our rather sad history. Victories may create heroes but defeats create laments that last. Then there is the scenery. While our mountains are small by world standards there is a balance to the landscape and a light which is just right. |

Hi I live in a place called Summer Shade Kentucky in the U.S. and I would like to travel to Scotland some day, I grew up in Glasgow, Kentucky which is 20 miles from where I live now. I see sheep alot associated with Scotland, is this true? does Scotland have many sheep, I am curious cause I have sheep, also cows, dogs, cats and chickens, but my favorite animal is sheep, there is nothing better than seeing baby lambs frolicking around, so soft. My husband wants only cows, because there isn't much money in sheep, but I say to baaaaaad, I really love them and will have them as long as I can put up with them.

HELLO!! wonderful place and would never leave. just wish we could get more of our heritage back i.e. our native tongue etc. Big hugs to everyone in this little planet of ours. x

Just found this wonderful room. Like the poster above, I thought I had Scotland SoDak, too, at first. Then I was absolutely delighted to find some real Scots from the country Scotland replying.
The posts reminded me of a web site I went to some years ago. It was for the whole UK. And it had some marvelous chat rooms. So, to continue. That is astounding to me that you can drive just 30 miles from London and you are in a totally different locale! Here in Minnesota, if you drive 30 miles you just have more midwest, comprised of farms and towns and highways. Nothing very interesting. Much of the same scenery. So I HOPE someone reads this from the country Scotland. I am originally from South Dakota. And I do recall a town called "Scotland." BTW I was much enamored by Alfred Hitchcock's Scotish countryside in "The 39 Steps." There is a wide shot at first. Is that really the way it looks? And I recall the book from whence came the movie story. And the author described Scotland so interestinglhy. My wife and I have a goal of walking the Pennine Way to Scotland some day. So I it would be very nice to hear from you folks. Best to you all! |
