Two People Shot, One Man On The Run In Scotland Neck

The individual that did this shooting is the son of Waddell Johnston, the same guy that committed a murder and had a shoot out with police about 3 weeks ago. It's a shame!!!!!

what an attitude to have on this--we need to get down to WHY people act as they do--esp. in rural and urban communities where economics plays a LARGE issue...i know all involved in this persnally and trust me, it's hard on us all...an ugly cycle of events--sad thing is, this happens every day all the time in the US on a continual basis--what is the solution???

Well it easy to get on a computer and type your comments about people you dont know. Am proud to say Wardell Johnson is my uncle and please anonymous just shows how you know someone, Johnston isnt his last name. I know what my uncle done is truly wrong and I dont suppourt it. I lived in Scotland Neck for 18 years, I joined the army soon after school, I wanted no part of the drug life that my family ran in my hometown, but I cant say am perfect or that I havent killed iraq's in my two deployments to iraq. Am I wrong for fighting and killing in a war i dont suppourt, but i have to do what i have to do to survive, CORRECT. So maybe this was the case he had to survive and if you knew both the shooter and the victim then you would have known it would only be a matter of time before something of this nature would happen

Thaddeus--wow--still can't believe this happened...LOVE them BOTH! i am SO glad that you were able to get up and do the thing and leave Scotland Neck--that town is SO depressing--but those who aren't from there or have no ties just won't understand ~sigh~

one question--how does one escape the mentality that is RAMPANT there? i simply despise what Uncle Wardell did--but that doesn't mean i don't love him--that town needs some MAJOR revamping--stuff like this has been going on for a LONG time and now, unfortunately, it's just a news story for the media to run with--so much deeper than crime--it's the dynamics of that whole community period--just a mere reflection of what's going on in most rural communities AND urban cities--but the show must go on--we must continue to live as UPRIGHT citizens and maintain our families! chat soon!

I want to say that I consider Wardell one of the most loyal and caring persons that I have ever met. I met him when I was 15 or 16 years and I am now 37. I stayed in Scotlandneck for about a year and got into a lot of trouble during that short period.
Wardell was and is like a brother to me, I recently saw him in 2005, and he expressed to me a desire to change his life and stated that he wanted to get away from all negativity.
I have a letter that he wrote me last year and he again stated his intentions in the name of God that he desired to be a better person and father to his children.
The town of Scotlandneck offers nothing to it’s citizens and it’s a shame that the young in the community sees no hope so they resort to these negative lifestyles.
I hurt for the death of any of member of the human family. And I’m very hurt for one of my best friends, Wardell that he will probably never again be a free man.
I know for a fact that he is remorseful and that he did not want to do what he ended up doing.
I pray for the family of Mack (I didn’t know him), I pray for Wardell’s family and especially his children and his son that he recently learned that he fathered.
And I pray for my good brother and former comrade Wardell.
Tee & Sean, I don’t know you but if you can, please let my brother Wardell know that I love him unconditionally.

not sure if you will be back on to check any of these posts, but i will DEFINITELY let Uncle Wardell know that you love him unconditionally! matter of fact, here is my email address couleidos@yahoo.com i will send you his information, no problem, so you can write him your self as well! i received a letter from him day before yesterday and i tell you this--i MISS my uncle SO much...i know he had some mess with him, but i definitely remember him coming up to Raleigh about 2 yrs ago wanting to get away from Scotland Neck--i really wish he would have followed through with that, i really do...the three years i lived in scotland neck were HELL! moved there when my granny got sick--i was a STRAIGHT A student and good kid, yet even I HAD TO FIGHT to make it in that ugly town ~sigh~ anyways, enough rambling...please feel free to contact me any time and thanks so much for the prayers for my family as well as the family of Mack Moody--sad sad situation all the way around--2 brothers GONE ~sigh~

To tee and all who have posted the positive messages, I was raised with Waddell. 3 houses apart on roanoke st. His brothers and I have been life long best friends and I have served as a big brother for Wyse for years. As recently as last 2 months ago we broke bread and talked about him coming to fayetteville with me. But do to the circumstances that has developed you know the rest of the story. I will not be judgemental of my brother or brothers because as a life long soldier I understand that certain actions can push a person to unlimited heights. So any issues regarding this incident I will keep to my self. You see I knew and loved both individuals.
My father once told me you are who you hang with. I never understood what was meant by this until I raised children of my own. 5 girls 4 college grads, one who just don't getit. Its the environment that creates ones attitude. I pray that in time someone will have the fortitude to invest in real life in my home town. It will take a monumental financial investment in this little haven to alleviate the poverty that has created the attitudes that exist

My father was born in Scotland Neck and I have been trying to research his family back ground.

My father's name was Robert Franklin Edmondson, born 1919, died 25 Nov 1987, he remarried a women named Sadie Dodd from Scotland Neck. I know that he is buried in Sunny Side Cemetery. His father was Edgar F. Edmondson, 02 Jul 1897. His mother was Irene M. Johnson, 19 Mar 1896, and he had a brother named JC Edmondson born 1925. If anyone knew this family could you email me at jwilson0099@comcast.net My father had two old Aunts named Ole Mae and Ruth Johnson, they also had a brother name Louis Oliver Johnson,that died when he was 29 years old. I remember going there once when I was very young, it was a very poor house. I remember turning at a winn dixie store off the main road and the house was down that street on the right. I believe it was 8th street. I am trying to find out who Irene Johnson's mother and father were. Maybe someone there has grandparents that could help me out, or maybe I still have family that lives in Scotland Neck? Family background in Scotland Neck and Oak City, and Hobgood is Edmondson, Johnson, Cherry, Harrell. Any information would be helpful.

It's unbelievable to me how many excuses you people will make for murderers. Being poor doesn't make anyone a drug addict, theif or murderer. Bad upbringing and a lack of Christ do.

noyzmakr--how fitting of a name...i, for one, didn't make excuses--but scotland neck and many towns like it need to rise up...that is one place that has stayed stuck in the mindset of the 1800's and it's VERY apparent when one drives through the town...there are MANY issues that add up to the sad nonsense that happens in MANY communities and scotland neck SURELY isn't alone in it--but that place is backwards--VERY backwards and YOU, someone that lived there--you strike out and talk a lot of noise--but when have you sat down and offered ANY solutions for any of these awful awful issues going on??? accountability goes a LONG way on the part of us ALL!!! what have YOU contributed to THAT particular community that YOU hail from???
