You have gutts & I give you a lot of credit- www.wakeupwalmart.com great sight for ideas to stop them but beware on the chat boards STORE MANAGERS are patroling the crowds- talking union angers the monsters & the bashing begins. |

Lets be a little fair here. If you want to go after Wal Mart for how little they pay or that they do not offer good benefits that is one thing. But lets be intellectually honest and stop this nonsense of attacking them over selling foreign made products. You might as well go after most retail outfits because they are guilty of it too.

1 Yes they are cheap, I still shop there occasionally. The Mount Pocono Walmart looks like a slum. The restroom inthe front of the store is "closed for cleaning" more then it's open. The store's appearence on a Sunday night is unbeleivable how they stay in bussiness- Nothing is on the shelves they are stripped clean - Pricing is another issue- At holiday time when lines are long & tempers short the CO- Managers program the wrong prices in- example Ugly Tomatoes (Christmas week 2006) correct price $2.49 per lb-(Produce Manager Sheet) The store charged me $2,49 each. Yes I got the $2.22 refund but it took me over 30 minutes & a lot of running. You see the managers get bonasses for high sales totals. The managers pad up the orders & at holiday time the trailers are lined up in the parking lot with the surplus merchandise(remember bonasses) Rude-Rude-Rude they have young inexperienced managers in charge (cheap labor) They work the overnighters like migrant workers for going lunch & all breaks- working off the clock until the job is done!(lawsuit) They have no CERTIFIED Food/Santitation manager in the Superstores (I looked up 10 stores surrounding Monroe County) They don't have to follow any rules-they are Walmart! |

1 Walk through the walmart on 7th street and then tell me you want that in your backyard. Essentially that is the fear of most individuals in this area. If you want the prices offered by wal-mart and you live in schecksville then drive to allentown or lehighton, but make that sacrifice on the drive and not your community. |

WalMart drives our retail economy here in the states. If you want to compete with Walmart, you need to offer products at a competitive price. The only place selling products that are priced low enough is China. So, you're right that most retail establishments stock "made in China" goods, but the reason for this skewed supply line is WalMart. |

1 If people don't want to shop at Wal-Mart they won't. However, it's quite clear that the full parking lot and crowded store means that people shop where they can find the products they need at prices that are lower than other stores. |

1 Other than charge high prices and have a limited selection of goods, what does the "Little Man" do? |

There was a flyer going around about a meeting on Sunday at 2pm to discuss and oppose the wal-mart. I lost it. Anyone know or remember where the meeting is?

I am not from Easton. I don't know why the thing says so. I have lived in Schnecksville and Orefield most of my life.

My applause to Laura Warmkessel. Please watch the documentary on Walmart. It was eye-opening to say the least. Not only did they state that they can buy elections, but ask yourself how much crime you want to invite into your neighborhood. Fight with everything you have-petition and make the news media aware. Good luck.

1 Which comes at a price I'm not willing to pay for basic commodities. Especially socks, underwear, groceries, toilet paper. The LV can use at least a dozen more Wal-Mart supercenters actually. I don't feel like driving all the way down to Trexlertown and deal with the 222 construction. |
