The US Supreme Court is going to have to stop the stripping of American citizens civil liberties once and for all. It's gotten way out of control that some citizens feel that it is their right to oppress others' freedoms.

While we will have to continue to live degraded by our fellow citizens, our day will come.

The headline on this article is wrong. It should not read "Gay Marriage Foes claim victory," it should read, "Gay foes claim victory." They are directly and explicitly telling me that I am not as good as them. That I should not be equal. That I should not be free to pursue happiness. I am sick. Of them and their supposed morality that flies in the face of what this country was supposedly founded upon.

I am as good as you. You can vote my rights away in election after election (you already have), but I AM AS GOOD AS YOU.

95,000 absentee ballots is from October 29 and is outdated.

As of November 2 there are 200,000 absentee ballots waiting to be counted.

Because there are so many, the election officials were allowed to start opening them the day before the election but they weren't allowed count them.

Sixth paragraph:

"Even though they were opening and processing envelopes, no tallies were allowed to be taken before the polls close at 8 p.m. Tuesday."

The purpose of marriage is to procreate. Whether you believe in evolution or God/Allah, it's just a fact.

SD, you tried that and the people of Maine said NO, you can't do it that way. Every time you try a end run around the people and get the legislature to give you what you want, The people are going to stand up and say NO. Until you are willing to do it right you will lose. If this is truely about what rights are granted by marriage vs rights under civil unions. Change them and leave the word "marriage" alone.

Face the fact you have the same rights as everyone else.

A man has a right to marry a woman, and a woman has the right to marry a man.

we both have that right! But that is not good enough for you, you want special treatment as if you are somehow better than the rest of us.

We order clones using our ATM card......the advantage being a clone has the same sexual orientation as the master.

Remember that little thing called the constitution. It talks about the seperation of church and state. Thats all good to you when you want no prayer in schools, revoving "in God We Trust" from our money of the 10 commandments off walls in courts. But now you want the state to step in and grant you rights to a religious ceremony. Equal protection under the law for benefits to civil unions vs Marriage would be such a easy fight to win. Just leave the word and ideal of marriage where it belongs, 1 man and 1 woman. The people have spoken time and time again. You just refuse to hear the message.

ya, "doing it right" as you say is for the US Supreme Court to finally step up and repeal every single one of these discriminatory state laws regarding marriage equality.
