Heidi was a beautiful human being, wife, mother and friend. She was not wanted under any different name anywhere else. She was just in a place in her life where she was depressed and felt hopeless. It is so tragic that she felt desperate enough to take her own life, that she felt she had no other recourse. Her son has lost his mother and my sister has lost one of her best friends. Please do not even begin to speculate on the lives of others. This was just what it was, a tragedy. I'm sure you would not want people you don't know or who don't know you speculating about your private life. snark wrote: something tells me that Heidi Lynn Baskin might be wanted under a different name for a crime so horriffic that she killed herself rather than face the music.

I think people should get their facts before they make unfounded comments. Heidi happened to be a wonderful, loving, caring person. Heidi just happened to go through some horrendous things in the last couple years and snapped. No aliases, no crimes, just a plain tradgety. Heidi never ran from anything. Heide was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend.

Karen wrote: <quoted text> well your guess is wrong. IDIOT People are so ignorant, they speculate about things they know nothing about. I knew Heidi for many years and she was a wonderful person. Loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Unfortunately Heidi has had to face some hard things in the last couple of years and tragically went into a depression that she couldn't handle. The newspapers don't always get the facts right, Chris(Heidi's husband) Has always taken care of the family and has been with Heidi well over 30 years. Maybe instead of being so quick to judge things you know nothing about but what you read, try being compassionate and understanding. Try showing the saddened family respect and condolances

South Shore wrote: <quoted text> I have to say that after reading all of your statements it is you that is gravely ignorant. Since when did the price of a home make you a bad person. I know plenty of people with money and education that are MORONS!! Living in Sayville doesn't make you special. It is also far from a crime free town. But that is besides the point. This woman and her husband were involved with drugs. As nice as they may have been to you, they were not stand up citizens. They also had illegal weapons in their home. Open your eyes and stop being so naive. It makes you look foolish. You know these people were involved with drugs? I doubt it. You are so ignorant making comments you know nothing about.

Rocky Point wrote: The point here is not where these people lived. A woman killed herself. Her husband assaulted a neighbor with an illegal weapon. Obviously these people aren't playing with a full deck. What about the emotional trauma inflicted upon the poor neighbors. I guess you all think it is acceptable for gun-toting lunatics to shove pistols in other people's faces. If that were my neighbor I would have them arrested too. You know nothing about Heidi's family or the neighbor, and there has been a lot going on in the past with the neighbors you ignorant people know nothing about. The only thing the police are saying is what the neighbor reported and nothing about what led up to it or what they were going through because of the neighbors.

Chris Schaffer is a friend of mine and although I never met Heidi I want to extend my deepest sympathy to her family and friends. I know that Chris gave up a good job as a commercial fisherman to spend more time at home with her. I am shocked and saddened by this tragic turn of events.
