Her fellow teachers wrote letters of support? She was ONLY suspended from teaching for 3 years? Her trashy butt should be sitting in jail. If she had her way her husband would be raping more of his students. What a gem and a shining example to the school system. Letters of support! I am stunned.

"Mistakes"? 2+2=5 is a mistake. Deliberately lying is not.

Ironic that the biggest liars in NYS, the DA office should be charging a wife who was lying to protect her husband from jail.
The DA office is the KING OF THE LIARS. They really have a set of onions to accuse anyone else of lying.
OK, you are not supposed to lie in court. That is the way it should be and penalities should be severe. BUT THIS? Who the heck was going to give her statements any credibility as an alibi. It was almost worthless anyway.
The District Attorney's office is built on a castle of lies. It is the only way they can operate.

She only gets a suspension for lying to protect a pedophile? Give me a break. There are thousands of honest people who would kill for her job. I know, I know - there is no nepotism in teacher hiring on Long Island. They only take the best. My ass.

c'mon guys she's not supposed to be on the stand to go against her husband anyway, it's illegal for them to force her to do that.

Why wouldn't the State of NY automatically invalidate her teaching license? What kind of wacky world are we in when someone trying to protect a sexual predator is still allowed to remain a licensed teacher (despite the 3 year suspension). It makes no sense!

Finally someone noticed that the government is not supposed to be able to force a spouse to testify? maybe she got the date wrong, do you remember where you were everyday of your life??? give her some slack

lets not get outta hand here, some 15 year old can teach sex education class. The teacher was only 26 or so.... The word "rape" is mis used in this case. It should simply be "having consentual sex with a under age teen".
"Rape", implies it was against a persons will OR trhe person just did not know what was happening to them, such as the case with a child. THOSE cases should be called RAPE and the person should do life.
I hope this person does not have to have their name on registry's and stuff because that can cause undue viloence to him. IF you asked every person in your community what they thought it meant if they saw a neighbors name on those sex offender sites, they would tell you it meant that they raped a person against their will.

For example, she can testify about whether he was with her or not on a certain date. The only thing that marital privilege protects is communication, so if he told her what he did, she would not be able to testify to that. But she certainly can be compelled to testify about things she observed. Also, if she provided a false alibi for him to the police, then she can be impeached about that at trial.

And furthermore, they both had lawyers. Don't you think that these attorneys tried everything they could think of to get her testimony squashed?

Finally, from what I read, it appears as if she CHOSE to testify on her husband's behalf. Therefore, nobody forced her to do anything. Marital privilege, like other types of privilege can be waived.
