My family & I left Savannah yesterday morning, 06-14-08 to return home to Southern Kentucky.
While we were in your wonderful city, we had the time of our lives. We have fallen in love with the city of Savannah and her people.
Our daughter will be attending SCAD in two years and we will move to be Savannah residents as well.
The hospitality is something I have never experienced anywhere in this world where we have traveled. We have done a lot of traveling in the South and Savannah is Home, whereever you may be from. It's HOME.
Now that I am "back in the real world" so to speak, I long and yearn for my Savannah that I have grown to adore. Being back to the beautiful and lush squares of the city and walking and talking with so many of the residents.
A special thank you goes to Mr. John Duncan and Ms. Martha Hicks Ellzey. These two made our Savannah experience better than we could have ever imagined. We love both of you as our own family and we will be back to visit again in the spring.
The food was exquisite, the accomodations lovely, and the hospitality just outstanding. From one Southerner to another, thank you Savannah. We love you all.

Savannah City Population
1980: 141,654 people 1990: 137,560 people 2000: 131,510 people Savannah's population was estimated to be 127,889 in 2006, down from the official 2000 U.S. Census report of 131,510 residents. These numbers give some serious food for thought. I too have always loved (still do) coming to Savannah and the area around it. To walk Bay Street, River Street. To see the beautiful parks, spend time at Tybee Island, visit Fort Pulaski. However one must wonder why the population in the City of Savannah is declining. A loss of 13,765 folks from the city limits is a big loss. Yet the same data shows an increase in the Savannah MSA. I am working here now and I am seriously looking into this before I take the plunge to sell my home (like it would sell right now anyway) and make the move with my family. From what I can see so far Savannah is like other big cities. There is the good and the bad. So for now I will rent a room. And that is something else. My God the dumps some of the folks try to rent. I have looked at places here I would not let my dog (or your do if you own one) live in. The city needs to really look into some of these places. |

I have to agree, what a great city. I'm a farm kid, but if I had to pick a city to live in it would be Savannah. Great people.
