Everyone talks about how "those less fortunate" are in support of uniforms because then no one will tease them about their clothes. I was one of "those less fortunate" and I hated my uniform!! Guess what? Cheap uniforms are made of crappy material and in real life look tacky and are very uncoforatable to wear and thats what I had to wear!! I would have much prefered my regular cotton clothes instead of this 50 percent nylon bs. Besides I have never ever heard of a school were you have exteremly rich kids showing up in Prada and Chanel and exteremly poor kids wearing walgreens. A school like that doesn't exist so when you get right down to it the most economically seperate schools are the ones with lower middle class and upper middle class and inbetween the two you really cannot tell the differnce. In the real world people don't wear uniforms! What exactly are you preparing them for?

What ever you do children will always compare to each other. I don't think the uniform include shoes, does it? Right there you can start making fun of other kids who have only a $15 pair when you wear the latest n*** at $30.
Why do you want to teach our children that we are not different and we are all the same. We all are different and we need to show it. What we need to teach them tough, is that it is ok to be different, and we need to respect each other.

I think uniforms should be a MUST!!!! It should include shoes & socks. Also, I don't think jewelery should be worn. They are not in school to look good (even though they have some attractive uniforms out here) they are in school to learn. No we are not all alike but what you wear will be one less distraction. I think hair should be cut neatly for boys & CLEAN. I think no longer than shoulder length hair for girls & clean is sufficient. No make up is necessary. And all should wear the same clothing from the top of their heads to their toes. I know they will disagree but what they look like is NOT why they are in school and the sooner they figure out the world does not revolve around them, the better off they will be. Its time we teach them we are the adults and take spock's beliefs out of the equation, teach good morals, ethics and higher standards our children some day will be able to run our country.
Thats dumb with the whole hair thing!!!!!

I think the comment about length of hair is harsh, you should be able to have any length you want as long as it is tied back.

I think it's a great idea for the schools to inforce uniforms for all grades. Students will have the opportunity to focus on school work oppose to what the next student is wearing. It will make all students feel equal. Those less unfortunate students will not stand out if uniforms are inforced, leaving less problems of teasing and low self esteem.
it really doesnt because they could wear thier uniform ugly and still be laughed at

I currently attend a school that has school uniform - I have had to wear one for about thirteen years now. Parents, do you really think that uniform from head to toe will stop the segregation and unlearning?

This is from a real student that has never attended a school without a dress code - it does nothing for the self esteem or the bullying. My school has a fight monthly, even weekly.

Some kids can't afford fitting clothing - therefore, they can't fit in with the 'high and mighty' students who wear tight fitting clothes.

Here is an example of my dress code: We are only allowed to wear three colors - white, blue and gray. Skirts must not exceed the knee or be shorter than the length of your finger tips. Pants must be a solid blue and tailored - no rips or embellishment cough individual style cough is allowed. Shirt is to have three buttons and a colar - buttoned up and tucked in at all times. Socks are to be a solid white, and shoes must be a solid blue, white or gray and may not be open toed.

I hate it - there is no room for creativity! We can't be free with colours, and we can't even wear jeans. You say we learn at school - bah! What do we learn other than biased, filtered through churn that we won't need in the long run?

Perhaps it is just my ideals, but though it looks great in paper, uniform kills students esteem. You think we wouldn't, but if the kids who can afford a better variation of uniform can do it, how do you think it makes the lesser students feel?

In short, I disagree with the dress code. If I ever grow up to have children, they will not be subjected to such a monstrosity.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Sagittarius

A loved one gets hold of the wrong end of the stick today, causing endless hassle and fuss. They're likely to get upset in the process, so you have to calm them down, and that could lead to a squabble. You may also have to cope with discord when discussing family matters, with certain people getting bogged down in daft details that you think have nothing to do with the main issue.
