1 The Salvation Army is funded entirely by donations, which are picked up by its trucks or dropped off at its locations and sold at its stores. No apostrophe in "users." I don't need food stamps or Medi-Cal. I have worked at the local Sears for the last 22 months and have a CIGNA insurance plan through my employer. My premiums are deducted from my paycheck. "Yourself" is one word. My dad died on September 6, 2001. His funeral was on 9/11. It was an interesting day, to say the least. I went to Teen Challenge for a misdemeanor DUI in July of 2002. My dad quit the Highway Patrol in 1969 after fifteen years in law enforcement (CHP, California State Police before that, and as a guard at Alcatraz for 18 months before I was born). CHPs cover a lot of wrecks, and dad said that after awhile you get tired of seeing dead bodies. He worked for 22 years as a letter carrier for the Postal Service before retiring in 1991. Have a nice day. |

Well, Mr. Michael Kincheloe (aka: skunk face 24, aka: johnburnssucks) or whoever you are today, I found sympathy for you. How lost you must feel. Is that the real reason you entered T.C.? Were you looking for some answers in your life after your father passed away and trying to make some sense out of a crazy world from 9/11 and the alcohol wasn't working to kill the pain and getting a DUI just added to it? Was getting a DUI a wake up call for you because of all the dead bodies your father seen on highway patrol because of drunk drivers? Not the best way to honor your fathers memory. |

seeing as the program really cost 1500 a month, 18 thousand for the year, your 3500 was a drop in the bucket. teen challenge is audited on a regular basis and required to serve vegtable at every meal. food stamps dont provide the world -

what money do you mean? how about insurences to begin with. how about the 1500 it cost to keep 1 person in the program. which no one ever pays. lets start there. shall we. when was the last time you looked at your cost of living?

Hi. Glad to see you join this forum. I'm a little confused as to your reply to my post. I believe it was I who had made the comment to TEEN CHALLENGE EXPOSED that the salvation army rehab centers do receive state funds ( at least in Michigan) to help cover the cost of their treatment of the homeless, etc. You are right about the bare minimum acknowledgment because of the separation of church and state. Teen Challenge Exposed was trying to say that it doesn't cost a thing to go there and they don't jamb Jesus down your throat, blah blah blah. I told him that it may not cost him anything, but the taxpayers do end up paying in the end. So what is your story? It sounds as though you are defending the program at Teen Challenge? If you are, glad to hear it. |

Hi i am a former student of teen challenge in the year of 1999 i was probated. just like you for two felony as a none beliver. I was very messed up and almost got kickout three times but they had grace on me.after one year it made a believer out of me it changed my life of course you had to work but it was only for three or four hours a day then class you go though alot of classes. thats what changed my life i had a 10 year probation and they bent over back wards for me i mean they took care of me when i went against them cause i did not like were i was. but they never gave up on me and with two hundred men on the mountain it was very hard to stay. let me tell you something it was hard but i did it and graduated in 2000 then wanted to become an intern to help out so i was one for one year then i decided to become a jr. staff member and help out more. i learned so much and i helped people like me that had a bad problem with drugs and selling. i got to see so many changed. and it was great so then i decided to go to bible school for one year in jacksonville flordia. i graduted. finally i could become a staff member counseler so i did and went to teen challenge in pennslyvania for one year. and tranferred to teen challenge in flordia and did one year there so to keep up one year ended up being 7 years. of the greatest time of my life. i left afer my commentment in 2007 and found my wife in teen challenge as a staff member and got married i have been clean since 1999 cause of jesus and teen challenge funementals. and never relapsed once because of takeing it in my heart.i could of cried and told lies like this web site and went to jail for leaveing teenchallenge for my sentence of 5 years prsion. but guess what i did not i suck it up and did it and it changed my life after the first year. it took a year for me cause i did not want to submitt to the program or some god thing i did not believe in at the time. to end i am still clean married and have a child on the way. i am very blessed and thank you for the positive web sit for teen challenge to tell my story and to get the wimps that could not submitt to teenchallege and talk badly about it on this site. i will be on this site for a while so please committ but for respect dont curse if you want answers from me some one that has been in it for 7 years. p.s. my wife still works for teen challenge she is in her 6th year helping to change lifes.

You are blessed and you ARE a blessing!
I do want to clear up with you my response to your last post. Sometime ago, I responded to the poster 'TEEN CHALLENGE EXPOSED'. I was, and I still am opposed to the way he has tried to bash Teen Challenge and their programs. This is not the first TOPIX forum he has started, to turn people against Teen Challenge. When I find a new forum, I try to dismantle him and I will say that every time I do this and speak the truth, he runs away like the coward he is. I found out some things about him and EXPOSED him on this forum and that was the last post until you replied to one of my arguments with him. I'm assuming you were replying to him and his answer that the Salvation Army is run entirely on donations. I know from personal experience that this is not true. So what you said was right in line with what I had said to him. If you click on the words TEEN CHALLENGE EXPOSED above the picture on the left, you will enter his profile page. He has a web page devoted to bashing Teen Challenge. It is nothing more than pure evil as to what he is doing. His name is Michael Kichloe and he has other aliases also. That is what I exposed of him in one of my posts. I am just trying to block his evil ways and should someone be looking for information about Teen Challenge and come across his web site by accident, I just hope that people will end up on these forums and read the truth of what Teen challenge is truly about. I want only to encourage you to keep telling your story. Put the word out there if you would, that there is someone out there trying to destroy God's work in Teen Challenge through the internet and that if we stand together, we can crush Satan and his evil ways. God Bless you and your wife and of course, your expectant child! |

My daughter used to work for teen challenge in florida. It is a good program and has helped many teens however, things she told me i questioned their real ability to deal with these teens. Telling pregnant teens they could not acknowledge the baby within them, not allowing them to watch anything secular or keep up to date with news. They had to wait in car at dr offices if there was a tv in waiting room and were only allowed to bring in their Bibles and not read anything else. How can we lead people especially teens to Christ ? We cant do it by shoving him down their throat. Jesus Christ was a gentleman and never forced himself on anyone and he would never ask a woman no matter how young to ignore the growing child within her. I think the head people need to monitor the directors more closely.
And when they say they have a good success rate , my daughter said she found out that was not referring to the teens who graduated out of the program. They were referring to the financial money they were able to bring in. |

How did your daughter come to 'work' at T.C.? |

I am currently employed by TC and the continued claims in this thread about being "money-hungry"... it's just absolutely ridiculous. Anyone who does the research will see that, more often than not, we are in the red financially each month of each year because we hand out scholarships and financial aid to anyone and everyone in need. We do all that we can to seek and save ALL who are lost and in need of God's healing... even if it means paying their staff minimum wage - GOOD counselors and teachers and administrators with plenty of degrees and certificates work for next to nothing in order to be a part of this ministry. To say it is about the money is absolutely absurd. We could go to McDonald's and make more. People involved in the ministry of TC are in it for the hearts, not the paycheck. It's about bringing grace, love, and healing to to the broken and lost. Period.

Awesome post! There are also more volunteers than paid staff. The guy that started this junk about 'exposing Teen Challenge' was no more than a STUDENT with a grudge. If you read previous posts, each time someone makes a negative claim and I ask them to speak the truth (why they were there), I never hear back from them. Evil cannot speak the truth. Thank-you for doing what you do at T.C. and may God bless you always! |

I took my brother to tc today. He was released from a secular rehab two months ago and relapsed 5 days after his release. I can tell you that I found the staff to be careing and kind, there was a large cooler of soft drinks available for residents in the cafateria. There were vending machines available as well... I don't know if tc will be able to help my brother or not... so far nothing has helped... I will keep you posted and I will remain vigilant in his care.

Good luck to both of you and may God Bless you. How are YOU doing? Have you received any kind of support for what you have been through? Any kind of addiction is a family 'decease' and it is so important that the family understand their role in all of it. JMO Please write back and let me know how you are doing? Cheers |
Please don't listen to this nut case. Teen Challenge saved our son from being homeless, drug and alcohol free and serving and loving God. His life was transformed through this facility of a Christian based home. I don't know where this man is coming from that posted all the negatives, but perhaps he is a lost soul crying out for help. Teen Challenge saved our son's life! |

i completely agree that teenchallenge is nothing but a scam. i was at the facility in stone moutain ga. and they repeated stole money from my account. did stuff like made us drink old stinky chunky milk. and i remember this 17 year old was extremely lactose intolerant and every morning was forced to eat cereal and drink evry bit of the milk.there was another kid that had a hernia and was told by the doctor not to run not to lift anything, or strain for any reason, and was made on more than one occasion to do pushups and run laps. and his mother would call to check on him and see how his hernia was doing and the director would say he was perfectly fine. even though he complained every day about the pain. i deffinately would not recomend teen challenge for anyone in the future. ive been to prison and to be perfectly honest it is not nearly as bad as teen challenge

Our son is alive today because of Teen Challenge. He was in 2 other rehab facilities previous to Teen Challenge which we paid a large sum of money for him to attend. He received narcotics (the same ones he was addicted to) at the second rehab he attended, came home high and attempted suicide. Finally, my mother got him into Teen Challenge and he was drug free for 6 months in the program. He came home after 6 months and has now held down the same job for over a year, is married and expecting his first child. He has his own property management business as well and is drug free. Thank you Teen Challenge.
Also, we personally know Shondi Fabiano and would trust her with any member of our family - no matter what age. She is a wonderful person and a great asset to Teen Challenge and Maine should be thankful to have her here, helping with the drug problem. |
