Obviously the Board will make up the deficency by raising the auto tolls--which already subsidize the ferry. As I have said many times--I am predicting a $2 toll increase--to $8 -- in a little less than 2 years. It will happen--and it is obscene to middle class people; kinda like a 10% sales tax--which is just over the top.

I think the ferry should either be self-sufficient or eliminated. Does anyone know what the actual GGB toll would be if the toll were only to support bridge maintenance/repair? I'm guessing $3?

That is still an awfully large increase in Larkspur. The original proposal called to take the discount to $5.80.

What we need in government is a 10-year pay freeze. No increases in wages, healthcare costs, pensions, etc. for 10 years. Especially for anyone making over $50,000 per year.

good idea. Don't raise the fares. Let the poor suckers that have to drive on the bridge and pay tolls continue to subsidize them. Just raise the bridge toll again.

$5.70 instead of $5.80 for the Larkspur Ferry does not warrant this headline. "backing off" would mean no increase.

And with no jobs out there we remain slaves to pay whatever we have to for commuting in order to keep the ones we've got. I'll bet Mary Currie's six figure salary makes her laugh at us peons who just try to feed our families.

It just isn't the bridge tolls - now it is an extra $10 for every registered car in Marin that is paying for the GG transit system. I am sooo sick of having to support this BS. I have to pay to go to work (gas, tolls, insurance, etc) so why are these people not having to pay an increase? Fasten your seat belts, cause I'm guessing they will be hitting us up for another toll increase pretty soon!

Not all of us are morons - I voted against this "handout", and so did all of my friends & family. Guess we were all blessed with the common sense gene :-)

Public employee unions hijacking (like pirates) public assets (like the GG Bridge, Ferry services, Roads, parks, beachs) and demanding higher and higher ransom to allow the public to use them is despicable...worse, the union toadie Board of Directors allow it. Perhaps even worse is the fact that the Board of Directors does NOT tell the public the reason for these massive increases over the past years is NOTHING to do with maintenance etc....the massive increases in salaries, pensions, medical costs and dramatic increases in unfunded liabilities (all for millionaire level payouts for each and every employee) AND calling it higher operational costs...there is nothing operational about overpaying your public employee union pirates...California, the counties of Sonoma, San Mateo, Oakland, Contra Costa and San Juaquin are ALL on the verge of bankruptcy due to these union pirates and its disgusting.

There should be a tax increase (on the rich) before there is a fare increase.

Why delay? Project should cover costs. Either budget or let it die a natural death. No delay when increasing bridge fares and Fastrack. I want my taxes lower withourt subsidizing non profitable enterprises. Same with roadways, where's our legislation for bicyle registration and licenses? I am tired of paying for a hobby I can not enjoy.

there should be a tax on all the hot air produced by marin jim. that would raise millions and solve global warming to boot.

Daily Horoscope for May 20

Taurus

If a friend has been bugging you recently, you are likely to have a few sharp words with them today. However, least said soonest mended, so don't labour the point or turn them against you. Besides, you have better things to do with your time now, such as taking part in a big gathering of likeminded people or having a long chat with one special person.
