Building more coal plants is one of the stupidest things I've heard! Maybe we could issue respirators for all Arkansans and for all those visiting our state, and what about those visitors? You know the ones that come to AR because it is a natural state! The ones that come and spend their money in AR because of the clean air and water! Oh yeah and how about our health! Can those families living in AR that are on fixed incomes or make below the national average income, can they afford all those Doctor bills not to mention hospital visits for respiratory problems due to breathing coal ash from Coal fired plants! Oh well I guess our government can take care of that little problem for us!

Build,Build,Build. You wont be breathing in the ash from the plant, as it has to be put through a filtration system to take out the impurities.

My question to you is do you live in Arkansas? If yes, do you have the benefit of electricity? If yes, where do you suppose it comes from? If you are able to live your daily life without the conventional means of electricity, then you have a legitimate argument. If not, perhaps you should suggest a solution to the rising need for expanding our resources regarding the power generating industry. By the way, where is your statistics supporting the health issues cuased by emissions of coal fired power plants? Addressing your statement on the means of Arkansans paying their doctor bills. The unemployment rate in the U.S. is currently at or above 9.5% and rising. To my Knowledge the best way to afford to have health insurance is to have a job that A) either provides such benefits, or B) by having a job that enables one to purchase insurance if the individual qualifies. Now with that being said. The construction phase of a Power plant such as the one in Fulton, AR would provide roughly between 500 to 800 jobs that would last approximately 2 to 3 years. Then after completion, the plant itself, would likely employee an additional 50 to 100 people based on other facilities like in nature. So lets consider the positive impact as well as the negative when in regards to such issues. |
