horrible and sad. wish the police would have better blocked the deceased's body 1+ hr after it occurred. we had to drive slowly by the flashing lights with 4 kids in the car, not memories I wanted them or I to take home. our prayers are with the deceased and family.

Then don't look at it.

Probably at that big left hand bend that drops away as your heading north. That's a crazy curve and was really bad Saturday evening while it was still wet.

I hear you kkm36 we drove by and saw the body. It was heart breaking, we also had three childern in the car. My husband spoke to the man who saw the crash. He was told it was due to speeding. three other motorcycles were in front of the deceased. My heart and prayer go out to the family.

I knew this man. He was an Air Force Staff Sergeant with a two year old little girl that looked just like him. He really was a great guy who would do anything for just about anyone. He just got back from deployment a couple of months ago and just bought the bike a week ago. Mike will be sorely missed.

Does anyone actually know what happened or why the young man crashed? The area you all mentioned is way up there as I recall, just before Madrid.

So sad to hear of such a young person losing their life and apparently, leaving behind a young daugther.

I have no idea. But most likely he was doing what we all do, there. Going fast and lost it somehow. I know that area was really windy on saturday evening and the winds may still have been blowing on Sunday

I passed the accident site going south shortly after it occured. First responders had just arrived and CPR was being given. There was a helmet laying nearby that I assume was the riders. About an hour and a half later when hading back north I saw the man's body covered by a sheet. I don't know what had happened but there were a total of three bikes at the scene so it may have been a collision between them.
Having served in the Air Force for 20 years I do know there are mandatory rider courses required - over and above the DMV requirements - before a service member can operate a motorcycle. My thoughts and prayers go out to this man and his family.

This is very sad...a tragedy for his family members. Everyone knows there are inherent risks to riding a motorcycle. Curves are especially hazardous, more so for inexperienced riders. Someone said he just recently purchased the bike. I hope this isn't a case of an inexperienced rider trying to keep up with some other riders.

I was deployed with Mike in Iraq. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Most of all to his Daughter and Mother. He was an awesome guy, always had a smile on his face and never a bad thing to say about anyone. Mike will be greatly missed by many.

We passed this accident and saw the injured man lying with a sheet over his body- with head uncovered-and a woman kneeling beside him. Nobody was doing CPR at that point. I wonder why his head was uncovered -if he had already passed away. I don't see why the body be left at the scene for so long. It seems disrespetful some how. What a shame.

I knew Mike going all the way back to our technical training days at Keesler AFB in 2000. I was also stationed with him at Barksdale AFB, LA. I'll always remember Mike for his huge smile and for being a really lovable guy. I never met one person that didn't like him.

Anne and I are praying for you my friend. We'll always remember you and your daughter and the rest of your family is in our prayers. May you rest in peace.
