Here again is the city and its officials trying to do things on the cheap. It always ends up biting them in the rear end eventually. This also shows what happens when you strip the budgets of public safety departments. If someone would have died then then what would the city have said "Oh we need to appoint a commission to look into this".

That's how the City of El Paso government functions. I know of another individual in another City department that spoke out against the big shots at City hall and since then he has been demoted and pushed aside by the big shots in the department for which he works for. The City doesn't like it when someone tells them that something wrong is going on. The City of El Paso Texas would rather find a way to cover it up! Now that this lawsuit has been brought to life. I hope this individual also wins his lawsuit. The result of this lawsuit certainly is indicative of what's going on up at City hall!

My best to Parsons, you are a honorable man. El Paso is a cesspool of corruption now. At least we know of one man who is honest.
Shame on you El Paso City Govt.

There needs to be a further investigation of this matter.

Who ordered it at the top?
Who covered it up?
Who knew about it at the top?
Is this another JOYCE WAYS to save money at the cost of the taxpayers?
The city manager needs to be interviewed.
Everybody reports to JOYCE.

If the public only knew how rampant this kind of thing is in the EP city govt. They stopped caring about the people they serve and those who serve them, a long time ago. Employees and citizens alike are just "assets" now; use them up for all you can, then discard them. The City Manager has only been good for the bottom line, but she fails to see that you can't put a price on public safety. Being prepared will always cost money that you will never get back.

Chief Parsons, good for you for standing up and doing the right thing, even if it cost you. Eventually you were vindicated

Don't complain unless you take the time to vote.

We need term limits for ALL elected officials.

We vote them in to serve us and we - the voters - should change them out EVERY election day.

We, the voters, will set the term all politicians will be in office.

This is very common in city government. They always try to find ways to cut corners. Dept. Heads in general only look after themselves, and if they're in a good mood, their entourage that do their dirty work. Any employee that speaks up gets shoved around and humiliated to teach him/her a lesson. Sadly, most employees don't fight. I applaud Mr. Parsons for standing up to these people.

Now, I wonder who they're going to put the blame on.

This is truly not Joyce Wilson's wrongdoing since she has not been here long enough to be culpable. This is the "Same s**t Different Day" that has been going on it the city government since the days of Telles.

You will find this sort of thing in nearly every department in the city. Abolutely NO Department is without some sort of cover-up going on.
When someone complains or points out the discrepancy then the rule of thumb is that the complainer is 'transferred or moved to a different locale' where they cannot see the problem and a higher position is invented to oversee the situation with someone who is "friends of, married to, or willing to kiss up and lie" for which they are paid double what the Whistle blower was paid. The more "head Honcho's " in a department the more covering up is going on..........

How interesting that this story pops out a day after the Fire Department
announced having won some important award that we are supposed to think makes us safer with such a well trained dept. Reminds one of the "Safest City" nonsense only a day or so after our 4th gang murder in about as many days.

If this was happening at this level, then wouldn't it logical to assume that there could be more going on up and beyond this level.

Review the ISO Class 1 rating the Dept "achieved" under Rivera. More shell games and cover up, but the city touts it like it's a major milestone. Joyce Wilson has been there long enough to be culpable... she can't play the "it's Bush's fault" card. Sometimes, the employee is right, yet the city continues to back up the manager because they are a manager. If only El Paso had Leadership, but sadly I think that word is gone from the vocabulary.

I want to congratulate Mr Alan Parsons for doing the right thing and for being so honest. He stood up for ElPaso and the little guy. While fire Chief Roberto Rivera, a coward tried to hide and to lie to ElPaso so that he can get his friends into the Fire Academy. Fire Him or we will vote you out commissioners. You are his boss. Again God Bless Alan Parsons for having the courage to speak up for us citizens of ELPaso. Que dios te Bengiga.

Mr. Alan Parsons should be promoted for his great Honesty. He should be made Fire Chief Not Roberto Rivera, a criminal who cheated ELPaso and the young people who try so hard to get into the academy. Thank you again Mr. Parsons for being so brave and speaking out.

Just another case of government corruption in El Paso. Corruption is built into the system, with even City Council ignoring their responsibilities to making sure this city functions correctly. Instead of doing what is needed, you have Council members like Steve Oreta wasting his time protecting the image of the PSB rather than keeping an eye on city systems and management to assure that the tax payer is getting what they are paying for.

Now they will discuss appealing a jury verdict that will eventually cost the city tax payer one way or another instead of doing their job in the first place.

This is EXACTLY what the people of EP have to do if they want to change for the better.

Challenge and question their decisions, dont just sit and take it. We tried their way and all we have is deficits, corruption, and lawsuits. VOTE the council out, a COMPLETE change.

It's coming, little by little, these self promoters will get caught.

This type of sh@t goes on and has been going on for decades. As a former employee all I can say is that the City is not the best employer, period!

Daily Horoscope for March 21

Taurus

You should have plenty of energy as a lively mood prevails today. The changing Moon enters your second house of finances, giving some Bulls the itch to go on a shopping spree. If you think spending money on status symbol items will make others think more highly of you, save your cash. It may be tempting to try to keep up with the Jones's, but in the end it is who you are and not what you have that will impress others.
