The guy deserves to be executed just like the guard he executed. In prison the gangs will treat him like royalty.

Now he's climbed to the top of the heirarchy in prison gangs. Convicted for killing a guard is big medicine in prison status. Isolate him totally for the rest of his sentence so that he recieves none of the benefits that the gang would confer on him in the general population. After all, he was the leader in the assualt, to keep him in the general population will likely incur further risks to guards. Yeah, gangs are tough guys, it always takes like twelve of them to get enough guts to jump somebody. Not my idea of tough.

The State hadn't provided Young's public defender enough money for a capitol defense??????
What is this? A 'bailout" like with the car companies in Washington? A person who kills a guard has to be provided money so he can plea his case? What's wrong with this picture?
The man is guilty. He should hang!!!!!!!!
We are protecting the criminals! Did the State give Garcia some money to protect himself before he was stabbed?
Our laws are made to protect the criminal's rights but the heck with the victims!

Justice for this killer will not be carried out in this life. If there is any justice to combating evil, it is not going to happen in this world.

Unless this evil individual repents, he will spend eternity in netherworld. He will receive his due punishment by the ultimate authority and there will be no trial lawyers, appeals, or technicalities to relieve him of his responsibilities for his evil deeds.

Our justice system is flawed, but God not man will have his revenge.

And what about the precedent? To get out of the death penalty, all you have to do is have a Public Defender!! This is absurd.

The economic reality is that it actually is cheaper to keep an inmate in prison for the rest of his life than it would be to finance a Death Penalty Defense.

The public actually financed this guy's prosecution AND defense.

what is it with gangs, killing and Mexican men? They must enjoy delusion power, having sex with men in prison, acting act like spoiled brats a.k.a. machismo, enforce poor self-esteem in themselves and in groups, being uneducated, too lazy to work for a good job, society blaming, always looking for the easy way out, and gutless to be honest criminal free men? The Mexican criminal element need to be locked up, given harsh sentences or be executed if the crime deems it fits.

Life in prison?? I don't want to pay for that SOB to live. Put him in the chair and throw the switch!! No wonder there is so much crime in this state, nothing is done to make people really think about what they are doing and what will happen to them if they do.

Lol too funny! seriously. You all talk the talk but afraid to walk the walk . Cowards living in fear everyday of your pathetic lives. Let each of you say that to the mans face,(if u dare) and then only then will what you say reach an audience that would make a difference. All of you searching for a wizard, bunch of cowardly lions..screaming death..unaware that a life of solitude..is worse then any electrical shock, poisionous gas,and leathal injection........
As for one who actulally had a conversation with corrections officer ralph garcia.....it is a shame and unfortunate such a kind hearted man was takin from his family.....but i believe even him would of forgave his killer...
And after all this nothing is said about the gaurds that stood by and allowed this tragedy to occur!!!! Where is the downgrading on them? Oh they get medication and simpathey for standing by watching their fellow gaurd stand up to the worst of the worst alone? Insane, ridiculious, and unloyal to a person to wich they said hello to everyday.....
Remember its so easy for you citizens to find urself in a position where an accident, loss of temper, stress, divorce,or a neighbor bein too loud can place you a resident of nmcd. Cherish your freedom!

Prison is a little city within a city. Whoever has money could have all the lucuries of anyone outside--TV, wine, women, and drugs. No matter how much the Prison system does more housecleaning, there will be crimes that go on within the facilities without worry of punishment. Believe it or not but NM criminal justice system is strewn with powerful special interests, cowed would-be reformers and stymied investigations. Yes, there are CO's who appear on the clock but have abandoned their true duties of protecting the outside. Prison administrators are sometimes worse than the inmates. There is a thriving narcotics trade in the prison system and where drugs were said to be so plentiful that they sold for less than street prices. In the absence of a strong authority over the years, Prisoners set many of the rules. There are "maids" "cooks" and body-guards.The "Black market" generates thousands upon thousands of dollars in off the book earnings. Corruption goes up to very high levels....its not only absurd but scarey....
