State Sen. Rod Adair recently received a speeding ticket for going 118 mph in a 65 mph zone. This is his second ticket for going that fast.HOW UNSAFE!
The last time he was also arrested for failure to appear and yet with one phone call to Moncayo it all went away.
No fine for the failure to appear or the extremely unsafe speeding ticket.
What will Moncayo do this time??? Most of us would lose our licenses for at least 3 months.
MONCAYO, stop giving special privileges to your friends and do the right thing.

This is way to fast for anyone to drive. I looked at his record on nmcourts.com and was shocked at how many citations this idiot has received and yet, he has never paid a dime.
Judge Moncayo, PLEASE stop giving this man preferential treatment and throw the book at him.

It's a travesty that someone who has taken an oath of office to uphold the law and ensure our safety by punishing criminals has let a man like Rod Adair off the hook REPEATEDLY.

If anything, an elected official such as him should be held to an even higher standard, not be awarded for his unsafe behavior with special treatment.

Tsk tsk.

I sincerely hope that Judge Moncayo will act as a man worthy of the office he occupies and will enforce the law to the fullest extent possible. Keep Rod Adair off of our streets!

Is this the same Rod Adair who had a warrant out for his arrest due to speeding and failure to appear in court, I think so? After Adair was arrested in Roswell, due to the fact Adair had a speeding ticket and failure to appear in Santa Rosa, Adair made a personal phone call to end his arrest in Roswell?? Is this the same judge, from the same county, that Rod Adair made the call to, from Roswell, to clear his Santa Rosa arrest warrant?? Are they friends, if so Shame, Shame, on Moncayo! Just asking the question?

I do not understand why anyone with Adair's driving record does not receive some kind of punishment, he is always presenting himself as a perfect citizen, it is senators like this that cause voters to become tired of legislators.

Why did I have to pay a ticket for doing 76 in a 65 mile zone? Should have told them my name was Adair.

What sane, reasonable adult would drive 118 mph? Seriously, that is crazy. Rod Adair should man-up and pay his fine. Moncayo should enforce the law. Driving that fast is as dangerous as driving drunk. Disgusting behavior from an arrogant man.

Well, Judge Moncayo deferred Rod Adair's outrageous speeding ticket. Probably no fine, no points. WHY? I guess someone will have to be maimed or even killed before a Judge will stand up to this type of idiotic behavior and actually PUNISH Rod Adair. NM should be ashamed of both Moncayo and Adair.

Wow.

I wish I was more surprised, but it seems like overlooking the law to help out your pals is a trend with people like Moncayo and Adair.

I hope people bring corruption issues like this up if/when these men seek reelection or campaign donations.

I'm ashamed to be from the same state as these men.

Twinkle, read below, man what a joke..the officer came to a plea agreement to let state senator ROD ADAIR off the hook so to speak! Maybe the death of some poor family will have to suffer the pain BEFORE drivers like state senator Rod Adair get treated like other speeders going 118MPH. Why does Santa Rosa need a judge, just call the poor officers doing his job to keep the roadway safe, call him in to give "A DEAL TO A STATE SENATOR"! People are NOT STUPID!

People killed by drivers going 118 miles per hour cannot attend those good programs.....they end up in graves with family members crying over the loss..........THAT'S NOT FAIR, GET IT? A STATE SENATOR SHOULD KNOW BETTER THAN TO BREAK THE LAW!

Shame on Gayo. (Judge Moncayo) If it was me, I would of been placed in the Guadalupe County jail. I will consider this when he is running for re election. Especially since this is a repeat offense.

Finally, The Journal reported on this....now maybe the Santa Rosa newspaper will do the same!

Friday, October 30, 2009

Senator Cited for Driving 118 Mph

By Dan Boyd
Journal Capitol Bureau
Just call him Rod the Rocket.
State Sen. Rod Adair was cited for driving 118 miles per hour on an eastern New Mexico highway earlier this year — 53 mph above the 65 mph posted speed limit.
Adair, a Roswell Republican, entered a no-contest plea Oct. 12 after being cited Aug. 19 by a Santa Rosa police officer, according to court records.
"Sometimes I get speeding tickets," Adair said Thursday. "I got my ticket and I paid my fine."
Santa Rosa Magistrate Judge James Moncayo ordered him to pay $281 in fines and gave him a 90-day deferred sentence.
Adair said Thursday that he was miles away from any dwellings — between Interstate 40 and Anton Chico — when nabbed for speeding and subsequently entered a common type of plea agreement.
"I did what many thousands of New Mexicans do," Adair said.
When asked why he was going so fast, he said he did not want to go into details.
Adair, a four-term senator who represents parts of Lincoln and Chaves counties, has faced a handful of speeding charges since 1999.
Most recently, he was arrested in June 2006 in Roswell on a bench warrant for failing to pay a speeding ticket. He had been cited by State Police in April of that year for driving 85 mph in a 55-mph zone.
Adair also pleaded no contest in 2004 for a speeding citation in Reserve, where he was nabbed for driving more than 35 mph above the speed limit.
Three previous speeding citations — two in 1999 and one in 2002 — were dismissed.

Roder That..........right on, Thanks for the update.

Adair said Thursday that he was miles away from any dwellings — between Interstate 40 and Anton Chico — when nabbed for speeding and subsequently entered a common type of plea agreement.

"I did what many thousands of New Mexicans do," Adair said.
Sounds like a kid saying "all my friends do it too", just like thousand of people do drugs, DWI, beat thier kids, and thousand of people driving recklessly, high speeding, kill inoccent people on roadways due this careless driving. This is a State senator saying "I did what many thousands of New Mexicans do," Adair said. BREAK THE LAW! VOTE HIM OUT!

Three previous speeding citations — two in 1999 and one in 2002 — were dismissed. I guess you have to be a state "senador Rod Adair" to get off on these tickets over, and over, and over again! JUDGE MONCAYO, WAKE UP BEFORE THIS GUY KILLS SOME FAMILY...... OR RETIRE AS A JUDGE!

You are in a dissatisfied mood, and are just spoiling for a fight today. However, be warned that this could backfire on you unpleasantly, especially if you take on superiors at work. At home, everyone is used to your behaviour and they generally make allowances for you, as they will today.
