Yeah, too bad the dead person wasn't the stupid driver....instead of the innocent.

Hope he is insured.

fyi, the guy that caused it is the guy in that black mustang with the rediculous wing on the back, im sure you all remember how much of an idiot he is. I feel bad because 3 days before this he was trying to race me and I told him he was gonna kill someone driving the way he was.
You should go to the CHP with this information so they can document it.

Apparently he was stopped before this horrific accident and merely given a warning.

Humm, we had an idiot in a mustang racing around the northshore a few years ago - he ended up punching one of our local firehouse volunteers who told him to slow down on our residential streets and he did get sentenced. Wonder if he is one and the same.

My spouse came home and told me about this horrible accident before we saw it on any website from others at work who were in the area when it happened. But the story was that the CHP was chasing the man in the mustang when it ran the red light and hit the other driver head on. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE OR NOT? The LCN did not mention one single name of any CHP officer at the scene but seemed to mentioned every rescue person involved, this seemed odd. We hope this TRAGIc accident wasn't a case of cops chasing a vehicle at a high rate of speed, when they could have just let him go, especially if they had his lisence plate id. and know exactly were to find him. MAYBE THE CO-WORKERS WERE MISINFORMED. In any case, prayers go out to all involved in the accident! MORE INFO PLEASE

HMM... Valid questions. Who was the CHP officer who stopped Mr. Mustang earlier? Why was he stopped? If it was just a warning, what was it for? If he was speeding wouldn’t he have been given a ticket instead of a warning? And if there was suspicion of DUI wouldn’t more action have been taken? Why is there an absent of names of CHP officers involved, except those investigating the incident? Usually the officers are listed in the paper if they were there. This was a Highway Incident, was it not? More info is needed before conclusions can be made.

Yes, he was stopped earlier for speeding, he was doing 85 on highway 20 in upperlake. Later, he was doing 100+ southbound on 29 when highway potrol spotted him from the offramp facing south by hamburger hill, the highway patrol began to pursue him and he sped up. he was doing about 130-145 through the intersection, spun off the side, and came back across into the buick. i dont know why its trying to be covored up. maybe because chp earlier told him to just go home and sober up

I know this car as I've had several run ins with him over the past couple of years in the K'ville area. Before they changed the highway there at the Kville turnoffs it used to have passing lanes and I would be at the end the passing lane where it merges back to 2 lanes and this idiot would fly past me crossing into oncoming traffic usually forcing me on the shoulder to avoid being part of any accident he would surely cause. Unfortunately this low life did cause an accident resulting in the death of an innocent driver and injuring others. I hope he rots.

[I don't know how you have had several run-ins with this car. He has owned the car about 7 months and it has been kept in Oregon until 2 months ago. So if you have had problems with him in the Mustang over the past few years, that would be impossible. Maybe you have had problems with him driving a different vehicle, but not in the Mustang.

what has come to lake county?? what has come of the police enforcement? how come the residents have not acted towards the better safety of the community? if everyone is complaining maybe everyone should write several letters to the paper in regards to the rise of violence? if it is mentioned enough i am sure it has to get someones attention!
let us make this place safe again....i am sure i am not the only one bothered by the violence that has been ignored repetitively.
something is crooked in lake county....look up the past incidences where there have been and are judges currently wearing ankle bracelets for drunken driving and still allowed to serve in the courts...distributing punishment to those with similar offenses, officers that have been caught with minors in an unprofessional manor pertaining to alcohol, drugs and even sexual conduct. when an incident becomes public attention containing a person of higher interest (ie: police officers, judges, or ect)....they are merely told to lay down for about a year or so until they are out of the eye of the public and then they are allowed to come back to duty.
of course you realize that only the guilty ones will take offense to this in "trying to set the record straight" ........give me a break....i am not blind and neither are the public. something should be done to strengthen the community to rid the county of gangs that like to graffiti all over and to "retrain" the police enforcement to actually fight crime...not merely give out warnings. if this cant be done, then we might as well all be doomed.
and..driver has only recently acquired this vehicle and never had access to drive it before the purchase....for some reason i was made aware of this even before the incident.
i also agree it seems sort of concerning that there is no listing of officers at the scene but emergency personnel were called and at the scene within a single minute...normally that means there is an officer calling it in with his radio or someone that has mighty fast dialing fingers to call for medics and relay information with their home/cell phone. i believe there is a way of finding out who reported the incident when it occurred. something about an incident report?? ring bells? there is a place on there to list a reporting person.
maybe the warning was given because he lives out of state and was an ex lake county worker? hmmm who knows...but either way....someone i know of lives near the incident scene and heard the initial set of sirens and then a few minutes later since the house is in route to the highway, several medical and fire units drove by with all lights and once out of the residential area, activated sirens .
seems interesting there was only a single set of sirens and then a few minutes later multiple sirens.....
just things to think about for ya. ;) well wishes of recovery to EVERYONE involved!

I did not say that he never had driven the vehicle. When he purchased the vehicle he was also living in Oregon (where he has lived during the past year and before moving to Oregon he was living in Sacramento). He was born and raised in Lake County, but has not lived here for at least three years. He did come and visit once a month. So again, the person who said he has had a problem with Hono and his crazy driving everyday for the past three years how could that be?

Post #9 - woof, I can't see why they would do a high speed chase in that area. He only had a few options as to where he could flee, surely they could have gotten him later and in a more safe manner. Please, please let this not be another case of bad judgment by the powers that be. Can't take no mo'.

I too know Hono..(nick name) he is friends with my son. My son tired to tell me "poor Hono had suffered enough from his injuries" trying not to punch my kid in the face, I told my son I hoped his STUPID buddy goes to jail for the rest of his life! Hono has been a lowlife his whole life and I have known him since he was little!! I can't believe the mentality of kids nowadays! Thank God my son is a stepson, because that way of thinking was NOT bore from my fruit!

"yuk yuk yuk" wrote, "chp earlier told him to just go home and sober up." OMG! We hope that's not true. If alledgedly, they truely thought he wasn't sober, he shouldn't have been let go! What a surprise, someone was killed! Not being a cop and not knowing all the laws and proceedures, it still seems like a no brainer not to let someone you suspect of DUI, to driv off. PLEASE SAY THIS ISN'T TRUE! Where did this info come from? Our deepest sympathy to the families.

then they must be bad at spotting drunks, because he was pulled over 10-15 minutes before this accident and they said he was drunk driving when he crashed. Maybe he stopped somewhere in the 10 minutes it took him to getfrom upperlake to lakeport to have some drinks? i think not

lets get the facts straight people. CHP was not the agency that stopped him in Upper Lake and those statements were never made. Also, he was never being chased by anyone. He was called in and was being looked for when the collision occurred. LPD observed it, but never was in a chase.
