This kind of stuff happens to anyone who tries to photograph the surf at Lunada Bay in Palos Verdes Estates. No celebrity or paparazzi needed. For years the PVE surf punks have threatened photographers and slashed tires etc for photographing "their" surf. They also turn on surfers who aren't from their town and threaten them as well. "Localism" gets way out of hand in PVE and Malibu as well. Just a bunch of rich kids thinking they own the beach. I hope they all go to jail in this instance. Nobody likes the paparazzi, but their fame depends on them. They each need each other to survive.

I understand localism- to a point - (throwing trash, bothering the ladies) these dunces have to go down. It is still a PUBLIC beach.

Im glad they got beat up, paparazzis should be fair game. There should be risks involved in a job that harasses people.

Such irony. These rich kids are now acting like gangbangers who they despise who attack each other for being in the wrong neighborhood, ha ha ha ha. Now you ghetto mentality in exclusive areas. Yes, it's true that the paparazzi can be a pain in the rear with their aggressive photography but these punks who are full of alcohol bravado need to be prosecuted just like anyone else. This isn't over yet.......... |

This will depend on your version of the Coastal Act and the entire reason the beach is public property from the mean high tide line down (in other words, the spot where these events took place is not automatically PUBLIC, it actually is only public from wet sand and the photogs were violating that very clearly and always do violate the laws...but they forget to mention their culpability).
The Coastal Act was enacted to ensure that people did not profit from the beach, yet this type of intrusion of other's privacy and relaxation is tolerated to an extent...that was crossed and continues to be crossed once again in the name of profit. These paps are scum, as low as it gets and they create the situations they profit from. Paradise Cove will soon have to shut it's access policy if this continues, they will own the entire liability if anyone gets hurt...not the surfers. Paradise Cove is allowing an attractive nuisance to continue without abatement, they have the responsibility to control the guests that pay to access the beach. Again, pay to access the beach, Paradise Cove is private property, not public. Learn the Coastal Act, and make the Coastasl Commission keep the beach free from profiteers as they are charged to do. |

That's awesome dude, cowabunga!

All the surfers and beach goers need to do is apply a little passive aggression. Surround the paps and start pretending to have a sand war, kicking sand at each other through the sea of paps. Throw a few frisbees, one is bound to be errant. Kids with buckets of water chasing each other and just happen to throw it as a kid hides behind a pap carrying a camera....
Simple, and not able to press charges since it's normal beach activity unlike the photogs making profit off of other's private time and public property. Paps are as ugly as a beached whale, but no one helps them. |

Are the paparazzi really operating illegaly? If they are operating in a public area, do these celebrities really have expectations of privacy?
But, let's assume the pap are on private land. Then call the police on them. To read some of your comments, it would seem you are condoning vigilantism merely because some of you have collectively deemed paparazzi to be unwanted. I'm all for respecting the rights of celebrities. But, why is violence the answer? Don't we have laws to deal with illegal activity? If the laws are ineffective, we should advocate for better ones. I'm not surprised that drunken masses would be all puffed up (especially given the info the earlier poster mentioned via wikipedia). But, I guess I'm just surprised to see seemingly sensible people commenting here that violence against certain people is the answer. Is that really what we've come to? That if enough of us dislike a certain element of society, we're free to attack them? Seems like a bad precedent and a flawed mindset, at least for a society which prides itself on being civilized? What say you? |

The paparrazzi had it coming. When will a law be past so they will stop disturbing our peace? They are just mega loser boys with nothing better to do but disturb our peace. Get a real job and shut up. TMZ - you shut up and sit down, too. Harvey Levin is the King of LOSERS!

Have any of you watched the videos or seen the photographs of these confrontations? These are grown men fighting, not kids.

Lunada Bay is localized becuase we don't want a bunch of flat lander kooks trashing our beautiful city. There is a reason the San Pedro beaches are so scummy, you people do not take care of your city, San Pedro is a garbage filled community. The streets are litterd with trash and the mexican fishermen don't even know what a trashcan looks like. Lunada Bay is clean and beautiful because the community does not allow it to look like San Pedro.

We're on our way, homes! The help knows exactly where the beaches are at. |

Lunada Bay Surfers can kiss my San Pedro Gal Butt. If I had to put my money on the guys from TC's or Palms or you Mommma's Boys...guess what, you'd lose!
