This is just scratching the surface. Allegedly Phil Duran who just died took around $250,000 from the parking meters while CM Romero tried to hush it up. Why?(supplier maybe?)

Oh really? The Santa Fe FOP lodge current President should know the entire history on what happen to this dyfunct organization. Too bad the public would not get the truth of what really happen to the FOP funds because this organization is not a public entity. The attorney who was hired to defend the FOP lodge should really look into the past history of this lodge before stepping into a hornet's nest. I am sure there will be accusations and allegations of innocent people and thier names being tainted/slander/defamed by the current President of the FOP in Santa Fe. Yet, in the end, those innocent individuals will eventually shut down the FOP business and it's over.

From experience, a new President may or may-not have all of the info. It depends on the recordkeeping and oversight of the previous Board of Directors, and the gaming committee (KEY ASPECT).
There is the Fraternal "officer-support/communit y-focused" initiative - the reason most police officers become involved.
There is the bar/social aspect - another reason to be a member - a safe place to connect and mingle w/ others in police work.
Then, there is the gaming,(that creates the legal/structured/reporting aspect) in which the proceeds help to support the other causes. Tough tightrope to walk for a President. Most do not have accounting or law degrees to deal with the legal requirements of this aspect.

Yo, dude. What are you smokin'? SFPD and FOP have absolutely nothing to do with each other, nor should they.
City of SF (City Manager and City Attorney) are not affiliated, nor associated, or eligible to hold office in the FOP.
Chief Rael is a perpetual member, of both the SF Police Officers' Association, and therefore, the FOP. He was a founding member of the SFPOA. See Rael et al v. City of Santa Fe (1985)
