that is not double dipping. They only get per diem. If we had a salaried legislature it would be a different. We need teachers and other regular people in the legislature. As it is only the rich, well-compensated (paid leave) and retired can afford to serve. We should encourage educators and others who are involved in public service to participate and bring their skills to government a couple months a year.

They should choose - legislature or teaching, otherwise the taxpayers pay triple - the teaching pay, the legislature pay, and the substitute teachers pay.

The real pay however is access the all the revenue collected from taxpayers which they control by way of directing capital projects toward the connected!

Not only an extremely generous retirement they don't deserve and only pay $600/yr for to get something like $22k/yr after 12 years(?) but medical benefits too!!
